BEATLES Capitol Albums Vol. 2 (TOSHIBA-EMI TOCP-70031~34)

The Japanese pressing of Volume 2 finally arrived. This is a cube, and not a longbox. As one would expect this late in the game, the set comes with the right mono mixes—no fold-downs on either Beatles VI or Rubber Soul.

And for those of you who care about this, the artwork is simply superb. It blows my European version right out of the water. The four album covers are meticulously assembled thick card mini-LP replicas with pasted slicks on the front—and yes, Help! comes as a gatefold. This is the way it should be done. Highly recommended.

How about the back covers - are they original or have they been messed with to list all the tracks twice like the EU and US pressings?

How about Vol 1 - did that come out in Japan in a cube and with the better artwork?

 

Nice, I have been waiting for this. Sounds like the sleeves are much more like mini LPs than they were in the Japanese vol 1.

Can someone explain to me why the japanese do things right and we dont? Do they have bigger brains and wallets? WHY????!!!!!!!

Is CDJapan a reliable shipper to the USA? They have quite a bit of cool stuff I'd like.

 

As the Beatles Capitol box has a factory price of Y10,000 (almost US$90), I'd say wallets.

 

$83 for the box, plus $10 shipping to my door. That's not bad. Even better if they include a bonus tape of the Japanese PM croaking out a few Elvis tunes.

 

I'm am italian and I live in Italy, but apart of their prices (Japanese!) I must say that their sevice is perfect. Never lost anything... no reason to think that in USA things go worser...

Yes, but so is hmv japan. I have bought from both.

 

Looking closely at the image I see what looks like the shadow between the two folds at the bottom corner.......

Let me see if I understand this correctly. You can buy the Japanese version of Capitol Albums Volume 2 for $93, which includes shipping, and in return for paying double what the USA/EU version costs, you get a gatefold mini-lp jacket for Help.

I think I'm good with the "normal" version.

 

That's one way of looking at it. Then again, when disaster strikes and we have to sell off our mint japanese boxes in 5 years time to cover the cost of a busted fuel-pump for the car and a zapped out toaster in the kitchen, they'll fetch quadruple what your boring old domestic set will bring in on eBay -- and at least cover the cost of the toaster and 10-15 minutes worth of the labor charge for the fuel-pump installation!!
