Richard Ashcroft teasing Allen Klein again?

I am listening to the new Richard Ashcroft (The Verve) CD "Human Conditions" and I think he is (intentionally?) skating pretty close to another "copyright infringement" with the track "Paradise".

The beginning sounds very close to the intro (after the choir) to "You Can't Always Get What You Want" with the Al Kooper French horn thing. And the ending is almost identical too, with the build up with the choir and slight tempo increase.

Weird. If you get a chance, listen to it and see what I'm talking about. I can't help but think he's teasing Mr Klein in a cunningly smart manner.

You recall that Ashcroft had to give all royalties and writing credit to ABKCO after it was determined he sampled from the classical version of "The Last Time" for The Verve hit "Bittersweet Symphony, which was a joke as it was based on two notes.

BTW I am having a difficult time with this new record. Not as immediately melodic as the last one. But great records often do not sound great on first listen.

The very thought of anyone bothering Allen Klein brings a big grin to my mug....and like Spector, he deserves it. Whenever a pest gets bitten by another pest, always fun watching the fallout....but that's just the Bad Boy in me. I try to be good, but it ain't easy...

I was pretty disappointed by his first solo album. I thought it was nowhere up to the standards of the Verve. Is this one any better?

I'm only four tracks into it, but so far it is very different from his first. Less "ballady", not a pedal steel to be found. It's got more of an edge, a bit more "The Rolling People", less "Sonnet" and "The Drugs Don't Work".

I loved "Alone With Everybody", I thought it was brilliant, a true singer/songwriter record, and a masterpiece in terms of production values.
Richard is a fine vocalist, a very romantic quality to his voice.

I love the sound of pedal steel guitar, but it has its place in certain styles and is out of place in other styles of music, like any other instrument.
