Beatles Remasters 2007: It Was Twenty Years Ago Today!

Now that I have your attention hehe...

All the speculation around the alleged UK catalog remasters coming next year may not be without reason and I wouldn't be at all surprised if this does happen...this is partly related to comments someone has made to me in last few days who has contacts in their circle not a million miles from Apple.

It seems that a massive marketing campaign for the new 2007 reissues is going take place, with the angle on it being that "It Was 20 Years Ago Today" since the Beatles first appeared on CD (in 1987, of course). Cliched maybe, but a very real possibility from what I'm hearing...

I believe it!

2007 is also the 40th anniversary of Sgt Pepper. They couldn't have picked a better time.

My prediction: Sgt. Pepper, June 2007. "It was 40 years ago today..."

A little scary, isn't it? I remember 1967 like it was yesterday! It's yesterday I can't remember.

Yes, the timing would be perfect wouldn't it?

Could we not just add on to this thread?

There's already too many threads about Beatles remasters, surely.

Well, the Japanese Abbey Road wasn't an officially approved EMI release. It was pulled.

Nonetheless, it was their first appearance on CD and is generally accepted fact (except to Apple/EMI lawyers).

1984 + 40 = 2024. At least the way I do math. 1964 + 40 = 2004. In other news, 1 and 1 and 1 is 3.

Don't know who your 'deep throat' is Kipper but the 20 years thing doesn't tally with what I have heard.
