How understanding is your wife (or significant other) about your audio gear hobby?
I came back from CES this year with ESP Speaker Co. head honcho Mike Veretto and Masataka Tsuda, founder and chief designer of Concert Fidelity in tow with his beautiful wife. (A good thing that Mike speaks fluent Japanese as Tsuda-san speaks no English.) They brought with them the system that they were showing at the show; the nifty ESP Bodhran SE speakers in flawless quilted maple and a pair of drop-dead gorgeous sounding Japanese Concert Fidelity 6B4G Fusion tubed Monoblock Power Amplifiers with special translucent lacquer and matching CF-040 Line stage for me to have a wonderful upstairs listening room. (Can't set up in the family room due to the toddler factor).

Well, our master bedroom in our house is gigantor big so I asked my wife if they could set the system up in there. Bless her, she said yes. Heh, when you walk in the bedroom door the first thing you see is this massive system set up, FROM THE BACK . As you go further in to the room you begin to see the recognizable bedroom stuff; fireplace, bed, furniture, etc. I think this was a big sacrifice on her part because I know it wouldn't have been her first choice in room design (although after she heard the system she whispered that she finally heard a system that "gets Nat 'King' Cole right"). She also was very tolerant after working all day of letting Mike and Tsudo-san muck around with the system for two intense days right in the middle of her "space". Sigh, I love that girl.. I don't know many significant others that would be THIS understanding. What about yours? Just curious. Any stories you care to share? |
