The Beatles complete catalog remaster in 2006?

Just spoke to a friend who works for a big record company beginning with 'E' and ending with
'I' who assures me its 'all on' for a total catalogue overhaul in 2006. I was flabbergasted, sceptical, but he assured me that they have had the word that its all on. Anyone out there can confirm this? Any tapes being moved out of abbey road? Could it really be about to happen???? Someone else must have heard something about this?

edit: six extra question marks added to title just to CLARIFY that this is in no way a DEFINITIVE statement that is saying DEFINATELY that there is any actual chance of the above proposal ACTUALLY happening. As (hopefully) clear from the above post, just passing on some info.

I will believe it when I have it in my hands. I dont have very high hopes even if it does happen. Does anybody think that they will do this right if it happens?

NOPE, they will suck just as much as the current ones...do you honestly think any of the vinyl hounds will be happy with a COLD DIGITAL CD REMASTER!!!!?

I can see the negative threads already!

Like I said, I'm totally sceptical about these sort of rumours usually but this came from someone inside the company talking logistically about actually getting these things manufactured. Yes, redbook CD. When I mentioned the legal case currently in action he said it was happening regardless. I'm just hoping someone here might have more concrete information. There is the possibility of course that what is planned is more of the US albums. This couldn't be confirmed or denied.

William,
Don't you know that your exact message (the Beatles WILL BE remastered in this coming year) on this forum is basically equivalent to running into a crowded theater and yelling fire? You can get arrested for both!!

I applaud you for the cajones, however. AND....if you are right, you can have the last laugh.

Happy Holidays

Confused? My 'exact' message is as it appears at the top of the thread..I don't know where the quoted remark above comes from but I certainly didn't say that. My original thread asks for some kind of confirmation or information about this subject. In a conversation with someone involved in the record company the remastering of the catalogue came up. This person had been told 'Its all on'.
Please don't put my name to quotations that you have concocted.
Cheers

I think you can guess what the original title was. ie, it wont have had a question mark for starters.

B-but, it's gotta be real...when Ed Bishop called it *The weekly Beatles remaster rumor*, LOOK - he spelled rumor with a second 'u', JUST LIKE THEY DO IN ENGLAND!!!

Yippee! It's gotta be real!

There may be something to this one, and Abbeyrd's Beatle News is one good place to watch...

If they thought Beatles "1" sounded good, why is this anything to look forward to?
