Hope we haven't already done this...

Name some songs where the lyrics quote the album title but the song is not the title track.

    For example:

Pink Floyd's "One Slip" quotes "A Momentary Lapse Of Reason"
Marc Cohn's "Already Home" quotes "Counting The Daze"
Comsat Angels "The Thought That Counts" quotes "Chasing Shadows"

McCartney's Chaos And Creation In The Backyard comes from lyrics in "Fine Line" and "Promise To You Girl."

Tim Finn (ex-Split Enz and Crowded House) called his second to last solo album Say It Is So. A song of that title appeared on his next album.

The Dark Side Of The Moon The song in which is the title of the album is Brain Damage:

"And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear
You shout and no one seems to hear
And if the band you’re in starts playing different tunes
I’ll see you on the dark side of the moon"

Though it's not word-for-word, the title of The Byrds' Younger Than Yesterday was obviously inspired by "My Back Pages" from that album.

The Kinks' Everybody's in Show Biz comes from the track "Celluloid Heroes."

Creedence Clearwater Revival's Willy and the Poor Boys comes from the song "Down on the Corner."

Argent's Ring of Hands comes from the song "Celebration."

Ultimate Spinach's Behold and See comes from "Gilded Lamp of the Cosmos."

John Entwistle's Smash Your Head Against the Wall comes from the song "My Size."

Joni Mitchell's Clouds comes from "Both Sides, Now."

How about Counting Crows song August and Everything After, which never even made the album of the same name (although some of the lyrics to this unreleased song did appear on the album cover. Then of course they even name check themselves on that album in the song Murder of One ("Casting shadows on the winter sky as you stood there counting crows").

Was just listening to Sting's "The Hounds Of Winter", which opens the Mercury Falling disc with the line, "Mercury falling ...".

Speaking of Sting-a-ling-a-ding, the title lyric of ... Nothing Like The Sun is found in "Sister Moon" (as borrowed from Shakespeare, iirc).

Sting has to be the only rock artist to have two album titles that begin with ellipses (the above and ... All This Time), don't you think? I'm not sure that's a good thing.

Wilco's A Ghost Is Born finds its title lyric in "Theologians". And the phrase "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" is found in "Poor Places".

To very familiar SH Forums ground, of course, "Doctor Wu" starts with "Katy lied ...", right?

Boy, there's gonna be a ton of these ...

Don't know if this counts, but on Jimmy Buffett's A1A, the song "Nautical Wheelers" uses the line "Living and dying in 3/4 time." That line is the title of his previous album.

The line...."we are living proof" comes from the track, "A Different Kind Of Love Song".

Three more from Costello: The words "punch the clock" appear only in that LP's "The Greatest Thing"; "king of America" appears in "Brilliant Mistake"; and "blood and chocolate" are the first words in "Uncomplicated."

Consolation prize: The British edition of This Year's Model contains "(I Don't Want to Go to) Chelsea," which includes the phrase "last year's model."

Wow, I know I've heard this a bunch, but the only one I can think of is Billy Joel--the phrase 'Cold Spring Harbor' appears on the album of that name in the song "Everybody Loves You Now".

Corrs: "Queen Of Hollywood" uses the lyrics "TALK ON CORNERS"
Corrs: "Give Me A Reason" uses the lyrics "IN BLUE"

and there's one more example from the Irish siblings. On last year's album, BORROWED HEAVEN, there's both a song called "Borrowed Heaven" as well as those words used in the lyrics of the album's lead single, "Summer Sunshine".
