Is there a difference in sound?

    What about packaging?

Is there a preference in any category?

    Thanks!

Well I ask because I have the Columbia remaster from about 10 years ago, still-sealed. I was wondering if I should keep it or exchange it for the Capitol remaster.

I think the consensus here is that they are the same mastering.

I have a 1992 UK remaster that was re-issued in an LP-like sleeve in 1997 or so. For my ears it sounded better than Columbia's late 80s CD.

That's the impression I was always under as well.

You're right, they are different. Stick with the 80's pressing because as your equipment upgrades over the years it will sound better. That's how it worked for me at any rate. If you really want great sound from this album... skip both of these and hunt down the Sony Mastersound gold CD and you've got the best IMO.

In my experience the new remaster is better than the Mastersound Gold.

I'm hoping the coming SACD beats everything.

Well, in your original post, you referred to the "Columbia Remaster". The Canadian disc you linked/pictured is not a remastered version. Hence, the different packaging and sound from the Capital remastered version that you are considering.
