Just for the heck of it..

    Side 1:

    Down On The Street
    Loose
    T.V. Eye
    Dirt

    Side 2:

    1970
    Funhouse
    L.A. Blues

I'm leaning towards Side 2 myself at the moment, even though it's a mess towards the end.

Had to go with Side 1. I can't help but dock a few points from Side 2 for LA Blues...

Ed Bishop Incredibly, I'm still here

Can't choose....albums tend to be 'as a whole' for me....

The whole sequence is so good, it's like choosing which half of a great movie I prefer.

I guess I'll say side 1, by a nose. Although once you get to the jamming (and sax wailing) at the end of 1970, the album has grooved into a different, cathartic place.

I usually take a whole day off work and listen to the box set.

    it's like a challenge. I can't believe I sat through the WHOOOOOLE thing! :p

Side 1 for me—thrilling from start to finish. Side 2 has its moments, but it's not as consistent as side 1.

Side 1. Hope I live long enough to enjoy a CD remaster!

"Dirt" alone makes side 1 my choice. Add "Loose" to the equation and it's not even close!

This is one of those rare instances where the CD format serves the music as the whole album works as one set. It helps if you are loaded too ... although I don't do that anymore.

Side 2. I skip one track on both sides...can't argue with 1970/Funhouse!

You will be glad to know that Rhino is releasing 2CD Deluxe Editions of both the s/t album and Funhouse on August 15.

Side one, by a narrow margin. I too, tend to think of the album as a whole, which is reinforced by my first exposure to the album in it's incarnation as a 8-track tape.

Side 2 ... much as I love TV Eye, I'm a sucker for the sax on 1970/Funhouse, and by the time Iggy trashes ... well ... pretty much everything on L.A. Blues, the party needs to be over.

I pick Side #1. Obviously, the drugs kicked in somewhere on Side #2.

Oh, the drugs on that one kicked in about three months before they entered the studio.

Agree, I dig the sax immensely and can barely sit still by the time Iggy starts barking like a man possessed about 3/4ths into Funhouse.

LA Blues really has its place on the album, but...I only ever need about 40 seconds of it.
