Perhaps not surprisingly, Best Buy is still charging this much for this item.

  4. Anyone ever compare this to a Pioneer 45a in terms of its SACD performance?

I recently set-up a dedicated 2CH rig in living room (KEF Q10, Klipsch SW-8 sub, Marantz SR-96, Rega P2), and have been using the 45a for digital playback, but it always nagged at me that a Sony SACD might be a better choice for SACD.

At $99, thats not quite throw away money, but its getting close.

I've got a Pioneer 578 and a Sony 775. As a SACD player, The Sony is much better. As a DVD Player, the Sony looks a tad better, the Pioneer sounds better. As a CD player, the Pioneer sounds better. Get the Sony. Its SACD playback is worth a lot more than $99.

I bought my Sony NS775V at Circuit City, for $129.95. I love the player, it sounds great to these ears!

I got the next level model, the 975. After a bad player, my unit works flawlessy. And mi MCH SACDs are nothing short of breathtaking. The upsampler, HDMI and great video quality were the icing in the cake :)
