    Have you seen this? www.thisdayinmusic.com

It shows you what was No.1 in the charts on the day you were born.

(Go to Birthday No.1 at the top of the site, it’s free, you don’t have to log in).

    My number 1's are
'You're So Vain' by Carly Simon in the US
'Long Haired Lover From Liverpool' by Little Jimmy Osmond in the UK

Loads of other good music trivia and lists on the site as well.

    :)

After my company had let me go, my ex-supervisor, whom I am still friendly with, notified me that someone in the company was trying to send me a personalized plaque from the company commemorating my 15 years with the company(actually, I started in the company in 86 as an independent contractor).

Hmmmmmmmmmm, I thought. It must have been someone who felt for all the people who were let go, and that what was their due should be gotten to them, even though they were no longer company employees.

Well, I finally got mine, which was presented to me, of course, and it said, "For sharing our passion since 1987, when La Bamba was WEA's best selling album."

    A long time ago....

    Best wishes,

    Zal :agree:

I Believe - Frankie Laine (ugh) was No. 1 here, and the US charts had yet to be invented. You people were probably still too busy setting up a fort and buying the place with beads!

I would have preferred if you'd asked if I was the guy from The Clash (much cooler), but I'm afraid that the answer would still have been 'another'.

I believe this Mick is not Mick from Foreigner or Spooky Tooth, nor is it the Mick from the Clash.

And I ain't the Madcap either. Go figure. Maybe it is time for a handle change for me!

BTW . #1 In America on my birthday was "Respect" by Aretha Franklin. It was "A Whiter Shade of Pale" by Procol Harum in Britain...

  13. Hah! We were born in the same week, you and I. I discovered it was Jimmy Osmond a few years ago. I was not amused.

When I was born, Number 1 was probably "The Birth of the Beat," which Sandy Nelson redid in 1961. Damn dinosaurs were perobably roaring in the background, too!

No US or UK chart when I was born but I believe the electric light had been invented but had yet to prove its popularity.

The #1's in the week I was born were Where did our love go by the Supremes (USA) and Have I the right by the Honeycombs (UK).

Thinking about the way society has changed since, the Honeycombs song today would be a statement (I have the right) rather than a question. Or maybe I'm just turning into a grumpy old man...
