Ok Here is my list....excluding Yellow Submarine because the Beatles really did not try, the Anthology, and the bbc (Not that anything is really bad on it)

Baby It's you -A really bad cover, especially compared to the Shirelles
Taste of Honey -A bad cover, and a bad song, but the Beatles don't too well
Old Brown Shoe- Can you believe this is on the Blue album
Baby you're a rich man -Just boring
Revolution #9 -The one song almost all Beatle fans would get rid of if forced to
It Wont Be long -The beatles are trying too hard
Maxwell's Silver Hammer -Just a dopey song...
The two German versions on Past masters -A waste of space
    I need you and
You like me too much -Two Harrison songs that come up short.
And I say For you Blue comes close

Among official, pre-breakup releases only - no Tony Sheridan, etc. The bottom 10, from most-worst to least-worst:

    1. Only A Northern Song
    2. What Goes On
    3. Maxwell's Silver Hammer
    4. I Need You
    5. Another Girl
    6. Love You To
    7. I've Got a Feeling
    8. Ask Me Why
    9. It's All Too Much
    10. One After 909

I love the Fabs, but they had their share of stinkers.

Mr. Mooonlight - In my opinion, the worst singing on a Beatles record.

Revolution 9 - I can only listen to Revolution 9 once a year or so.

  11. I could go with this list as well. I'd replace "It's All Too Much" with "All Together Now".

Not that they're bad exactly, but I find I can take or leave just about all the Beatles' American rock and roll cover tunes. There are a few I like that are a little quirkier - "Please Mr Postman," "You Really Got a Hold On Me," "Words of Love." And obviously "Twist and Shout" is indispensable. But I just never want to hear any of those songs like "Roll Over Beethoven" or "Long Tall Sally" or "Matchbox" or "Rock and Roll Music," however well they're performed. They don't have the melodic magic of the Beatles' original songs, and I think they're best left to the original American artists. Most of them seem sort of irrelevant to the band's career/oeuvre.

One song I've never liked that is clearly popular with fans is "Glass Onion." It always stays in when people play the single-disc White Album game, but it would be one of the first things I'd cut. It's the kind of sour-sounding song George would write (like It's Only a Northern Song or Savoy Truffle, which I don't care for much either). I guess people like the lyrics, but the wink-wink references to other Beatles songs get old quickly.

Conversely, I really like Baby You're a Rich Man, which generally seems to be regarded as a dud.

When Apple was dusting off outtakes for the "Anthology" series, "What's The New Mary Jane?" should have stayed in the vault. It's easily the worst song the Beatles recorded, IMO.

I don't think that should count as it was on the Anthology only. Do you think "You Know What To Do" is better? :D

    My choices are:

    • Long Tall Sally (I think John should've sung it, in a lower key of course - I don't like Paul's vocal at all)
    • Run For Your Life
    • All Together Now
    • Another Girl
    • Wild Honey Pie
    • Michelle
    • Maxwell's Silver Hammer (I like George's synth parts though)
    • When I Get Home (I do love the bridge but think the chorus is dreadful)

I think a lot of "Rubber Soul" is uninspired and dated for the Beatles but "Michelle" and "Run For Your Life" are the ones I dislike the most.

Dig It (The interminably long version is especially bad)
Wild Honey Pie (might have sounded better with electric instruments)
    Mr. Moonlight (overwrought vocals)
    Within You Without You (borrring)
Revolution 9 (not a particularly good acid trip?)
You Know My Name (didn't fit on any album for a reason)
Good Night (maybe Rod Stewart will cover this)
Everybody's Trying To Be My Baby (waaay too much echo on vox)
Blue Jay Way (sounds unfinished, like George's worst 70s stuff)
