New Neil Young "Best Of"

My FYE new release sheets list a new Neil Young "Best Of" with a DVD(!) coming out Nov. 16. Anybody have a track listing or info on this?

Thanks!

Hey, thanks!
But.....

Good grief! What a waste of time! WHY???????
What a b-o-r-i-n-g selection. I guess it's the difference between a "Greatest Hits" and a "Best Of". I suppose it'll be chronological too (sigh).

Surely 1 disc can't do Neil justice, but it might be fun to try to come up with a track listing (a "Best Of", not "Hits"- those are boring). I'll have to think of one...

So, no DVD of music videos, rare live performances, or anything of any value whatsoever..... Then they wonder why the music biz is in the Crapper.

This is being released for the same reason Beatles 1 was...the industry dictates that a regular priced 1-CD Greatest Hits be available for the casual music shopper. No more, no less.

Well, if I was compiling a single CD Neil Young "Best Of"... I actually went from it being a "Best Of" (which is too subjective), to more of a "Retrospective". Considering that to sell, it has to have "hits" (particularly "Heart Of Gold"), I threw some in, along with (what I consider) to be a pretty good sampling of all his "phases". What I would want to hear is a non-chronological (check out the new 2 CD John Mellencamp disc for a great track listing that's fun to listen to) ride through Neil's career.
So, this is what I would have picked, in this order (which I think works very well if I do say so):
(feel free to add your own track list too!)

Rockin' In The Free World
Walk On
Let's Roll
Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere
Touch The Night
Heart Of Gold
Harvest Moon
Lotta Love
Thrasher
After The Gold Rush
Wonderin'
Sleeps With Angels
This Note's For You
Winterlong
Little Thing Called Love
Like A Hurricane
Long May You Run

Select a single disk worth of Neil?! Impossible!

But I think "Live Rust" does a pretty darn good job for songs up to 1979.

Any "Best Of" Neil Young compilation should include "Don't Be Denied" (which was conspicuously absent from Decade--perhaps because of the "direct to disk" mastering used for Time Fades Away).

That's a good selection, especially the last song on there.

Cinnamon Girl needs to be on there, though.

Neil Young from the link Sessal posted: "I've always been a strong believer in analogue and this is about as close to the rewarding listening experience of vinyl as the real thing."

Now THERE IS a vinyl version of Neil Young's Greatest Hits coming too....I wonder if its gonna be the real thing ...all analogue from the original master tapes. I sure hope so, but I'm not betting.

Since WSM/Rhino has done excellent 2CD sets on many of their artists (Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles , Jackson Browne, Van Halen, ZZ Top ), I'm really surprised that neil only got a 1 CD set . He should have 2, or even a box set

I picked up a promo copy of neil young greatest hits this afternoon. Have only had the opportunity to sample the redbook disc in the car -- sounds good. No surprises in track listing. "Greatest hits inclusion based on original record sales, airplay, and known download history. -- N.Y."
