Other than being a different take, with different guitars and vocals? Nothing at all....

But then, having had the 45 for a lotta years, well, even being a B-side, it was kinda obvious....

Yes, you are correct.

Listen closely at 1:08 when Neil's guitar enters!
His guitar tone which I assume is a Gretsch White Falcon sounds freakin' awesome!
It's a totally different solo!

 

It's the first time I heard this legendary mix and take, too it seeems. Bruce Palmer's (?) bass line in the verses sounds different or maybe it's the same just higher up in the mix. Neil's solo is totally different but on first hearing I prefer the stereo one because it's more frantic but maybe it's just because I grew up with the stereo.

I have not heard this version of MR. SOUL since 1967; great guitar solo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A special thanks to Namretsam for originally reminding us that the 45 version is different from the monaural LP version.

I cannot believe that this great version was left off of the box set. Could it be they forgot about it?

Come on, we all know that you can't post the WHOLE song! Major copyright violation (unless your Buffalo Springfield... ).

A short clip is probably fine - I think that fits in under "fair use" for reviewing the quality of the song, etc etc.

I tried about an hour ago to listen, not on my own machine, the song came in fits and spurts (56K modem). Then I had to run.

I'm on my own machine now. Is there any way to record/save/download the stream with your standard WinXP setup?
