Terrific! I've never had a clue as to how those damned things were made. Now if Western Electric would only begin production of 5692s. . . .

I thought I just heard that Western Electric has stopped making 300Bs for now. Seems kind of silly, doesn't it?

What do you run those 300B's in???

WE is rumored to be involved in a revival of Genalex KT-88's; bet those puppies won't be cheap if they come about, either...

An incredible story of how to do things right, worth every penny. What worries me is who is being trained to take over when these 30+ year employees final retire?

No telling what sorta black magic went on in the good old days, and what secrets the old timers didn't share with their replacements...

Isn't it something like $500.00 per matched pair? Something like that..

Believe it or not, MSRP was $900/pair last I knew, which was a few years ago circa 2000.

They were generally going for a tad less, but it seems like WE is pretty selective about their retailers, so they can't be had practically anywhere like some manufacturer's tubes. Not that I needed any 300B's, I just ran across 'em online from time to time.

If those WE's were a comp, that was a pretty swell deal. ;)

It would be nice if they could delve into the Mullard EL 34 realm - I'd be willing to pay more for a high quality tube, and guitar guys would certainly be in heaven...
