    :help:

What do you think is the best sounding "Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack" LP and/or CD?

I found three versions of this recording:

    1) remastered aluminum CD version
    2) MFSL gold CD version
    3) Speaker Corner 180 gr. LP

To those who own one or two or all of the above, please give your opinions. Thanks in advance. :)

I own the original disc (not remastered), and the MoFi smokes it. It's a lot clearer and cleaner.

I used to own the old LP, but I don't have it around anymore...

Agreed. Lots more bass and treble, which is what the original CD lacks - it has the tonality of an AM radio by comparison.

I'm curious about the remaster, but I'm concerned that it may have been given the "maximization" treatment.

I still have my original SNF soundtrack in super clean condition and for the most part, I prefer it to the Mo-Fi.

The remaster doesn't sound bad at all

I think I've got a cdr of that remaster you'se guys are referring to. Something about "Apogee UV-22" blah, blah.

I've not heard the MFSL. I thought this one sounded okay until the Bee Gees 2disc "The Record". The SNF tracks on that smoke the remastered cd...IMHO.

The MoFi gold CD without question is the best version of this album available. Though the original press run copies of the album are great too. Those were mastered by Wally Traugott at Capitol Records.

The promo 12" SNF single with the extended mixes?

Seriously, I like the MFSL version the best!

Yes, I have both of these as well, and they both sound great.

Really? I find the MFSL to bass and treble heavy myself. I'm currently looking for the first issue.

I have an old two-CD version, red label Polydor. Might be an original release, not sure. Can't say I care for it--seems muffled to my ears, not quite the same as the vinyl I had ages ago (which I can barely remember...except that I remember being disappointed in the CD.

Thanks again to those who have responded.
I finally bought one copy of "Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack" LP.
Unfortunately. I can't find a MoFi gold version in any store and one source is selling it at an unreasonable price of $175.00.
The one that I got is the last sealed vinyl copy of "STNFS" pressed by Speaker Corner on 180 gram vinyl.
It's still very expensive but not as ridiculously priced as the sealed gold CD.

$175? Heh, I paid $10 in a cutout bin for the UDII SNF many years ago...my first ever gold disc! I didn't know they were that rare...

IMHO the MFSL gold CD is primo. Actually one of the best sounding MFSL releases. And a great album to boot!

Friendly FYI, no UD1 ever available. This is only a UDII with GAIN.

I've heard the remastered CD and it's very good so do not fear if you can't get a MoFi version.

Hmm. I guess I could compare the original CD vs. the Bee Gees Greatest Hits compilation vs. the MFSL.

Going from memory, though, the original CD is quite flat in comparison.
