Just heard it on the radio. Reissuing and remastering 6 albums: Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall (i think), The Final Cut, one other...couldn't remember them all. With restored artwork. Said nothing about hi-res. Anyone know anything about this>

Wouldn't make much sense unless they were Hi-Res. Then again, why I am I expecting anything to make sense? ;)

I hope it's not just to put copy protection on them! :shake:

Does restored artwork mean going back to the original good artwork as opposed to the re-done artwork done by Storm Thorgerson (who did most of the good stuff the first time around, ala Lucas)?

Hmmm this is strange, especially since The Final Cut is being reissued in late March/early April.

Hmm...pretty sure I heard right, but I might not have. He rattled them off pretty quickly. All i know FOR SURE is "Wish You Were Here" and "Animals"...and for sure NOT "DSOTM".

The only cover I recall Storm re-doing is Dark Side of the Moon...2x. WYWH had an alternate cover, but Animals, The Wall and The Final Cut are correct on CD.

I agree, we need hi-res ASAP!

It sure would be nice to hear a decent mastering of The Final Cut. Does anyone know if there is a decent mastering job of Animals like there is with the others?

    Well done SACD would be...:righton:

Strange you should mention "The Final Cut" because I just listened to that on CD. Not as fabulous as the vinyl, which is truly excellent, but thought that the 1997 Sony (Columbia) remaster sounded just terrific.

What don't you like about it? Dave, don't tell me it's too bright? ;)

No actually it was just a question Geoff as I don't own it...yet. Which has the "Breath Of Life", the remaster or the original? ;)

John Buchanan I'm just a headphone kind of fellow. Stax Sigma

Does anyone have access to an original vinyl "Final Cut"?

Could you listen to the rocket/jet that goes overhead at the end of "Get Your Filthy Hands Off My Desert" on headphones and tell me if I'm mstaken in remembering the vinyl version had no distortion whereas the CD has some?

He also changed A Collection Of Great Dance Songs and A Momentary Lapse Of Reason, and not for the better, IMO. Some of the remastered artwork looks downright amateurish with silly color and typeface choices.

There's nothing on their webpage or Brain Damage so I don't beleive any of it. Just because someone heard some DJ on the radio say it's going to happen doesn't make it true.

Don't have to imagine. Have had the quad LP since 1976. It sounds amazing in surround!

I have the Original Vinyl of Final Cut. I do remember listening to that on headphones. The sound of the jet roaring overhead seemed clean, but the explosion at the end definitely distorted out. I'll have to dig that one out of the archives.

I saw the video for "Fletcher Memorial" on VH1Classics yesterday. That's one you don't see everyday. Decent video and has a great hook musicwise.

I'm lucky to have a DTS dvdr of "WYWH" and yes, that album would sound even better in SACD.
