Odd how the Bose salesperson tried to talk you out of them.

That's because they didn't have any in stock. The flagship speaker!

    Oh, this shall be good.

I've talked to a lot of non-audiophiles about home audio the last few years (friends, friends of friends, people I meet at audio retailers, and people on the net) and the salesman's remark about nobody using "large" speakers anymore probably really was the actual motivation for his recommendation. And many of those I talk to *do* bring up the size issue, even though many of them live in "normal" sized houses and apartments that could easily accomodate a pair of the typical skinny floorstanders with dual 8" woofers, much less a pair of the relatively small 901s. But what's weird is that many also give me a kind of deer-in-the-headlights look when I ask them why they object to owning a component system - it's like they never even considered the issue (FYI: this usually occurs with people in their 20s if that means anything).

FYI to those 20-somethings :): you can connect your iPod to a component system you know - via cable or Bluetooth - and see the album art and track info on your flatscreen with many of those systems (and even charge your player at the same time).

Any fear of litigation if you give them a bad review? They certainly scared Consumer Report away from serious audio component evaluations.

Interesting first part. But, I'm curious about the thread title. By definition, a trilogy has 3 parts. Is there a hidden meaning or some ironic joke?
