AVID Acutus Ref SP with TriPlanar. Talked to Jonathan Carr and Joe Harley and they both suggested the TriPlanar over the SME V that I'm currently using on my Acutus. There may be a Graham Phantom in the mix, so that might also be an option at some point.

Taking photos and doing setup today...

The TriPlanar facinates me with its industrial design element.

Beautiful cart - why does Lyra put that fabric tape stuff on all of their cartridges?

    Have fun!

You should look closely at a MC cartridge sometime under a microscope.

There's a lot of metal out there and you don't want it in the works. Plus it reminds you not to go near the wires, assuming you have the vision of a 9 year old girl and can see them. It's small in there.

I would say as a way to protect the coil wires and not add mass or a material that might affect the sound.

    Protection for the generator.

I think most men agree their generator needs protection. ;)

    Thanks - this makes sense.

I was sort of curious why fabric tape and not some other material given that (to me) the fabric tape looks a little out of place - the rest of the Lyra carts are just beautiful (this green one is particularly nice looking to me).

    Happy Friday all ;)

+1... visually really takes away from the look of their beautiful cartridges. For the price, think they could have a synthetic diamond mesh or something!

You dog! Looking forward to listening impressions, and relative comparisons to the other models in the Lyros line :righton:

Considering Lyra have been using the wasabi paper on the bottom of their cartridges for over 20 years, I find it amusing that some still find it not to their visual liking.

Lucky some don't buy Lyra's for their looks only. Function over form anyday especially as it follows J Carr's efforts for sound quality as an absolute priority.

It's Washi paper. Wasabi is for sushi. ;)
