    Forgot all about it.

YES! It sounded great; both Kevin and I were in awe.

God forbid if it breaks or goes out of alignment though.

There is a review in the german "Stereo" magazine, a recent 30th anniversary edition, which has reprinted an 1998 article on the ELP LT1XA.

It says that the sound is on par with the best traditional turntables on the market (not "electronic" at all), but that the laser is ultrasensitive to dust in the grooves, and the player becomes unusable with records that are not in excellent condition. It comes with a VPI record cleaning machine.

I missed it. I don't believe it was at the Alexis Park, that is, at CES. I think saw a sign for it at the San Tropez (T.H.E. Show) and thought "I have to check that out", but somehow it slipped my mind. There were many excellent sounding turntables at CES and T.H.E. Show.

I have to say, as a first-timer at CES, that it's really hard to take it all in. I will have a better approach next year.

I like how no one complains about a "Thread crap" when there are sexy ladies involved. I mean, who's going to say "Hey, the thread is about a laser TT, get those sexy ladies outta here!"

    Not me!!

I've been interested in these for a long time...
What I most want to know is how they do on worn records.
The company's literature claims the tt doesn't register scratches lateral to the groove and I've also read the lasers (I think it uses five beams) can read areas of the groove wall that haven't been subject to wear, and that gives old, used records a "new" or "near mint" quality.

I'd love to know if that is true or not. I mean, how much money would collectors stand to save if they didn't have to upgrade their beloved, but beat records? I remember a Japanese owner of one of these said he was thrilled with the thing becauses abused records he bought in junior high school 30 or 40 years ago sounded new. If that were true...
