Rolling Stones SACD Box Set arrives in UK

Universal Music International is releasing a boxed set of the Rolling Stones Remastered SACD Series. The boxed set will initially appear in the U.K. with additional releases planned in other markets where Universal Music International has previously released the individual SACDs in the Rolling Stones Remastered Series.

One open question is whether a Rolling Stones SACD Box set might appear in the U.S. and Canada. Since ABKCO Records handles their releases directly in these two markets (rather than Universal Music International), we will have to await word from ABKCO as to their plans.

The Rolling Stones Remastered SACD Box Set
According to Universal Music International officials, the Stones SACD box set includes 16 of the Stones Remastered SACDs.

In addition to the 16 SACDs by the Rolling Stones, the boxed set also includes a 16 page booklet about the Stones Remastered Series with liner notes written by Nigel Williamson of Uncut. The set also has 5 "limited edition collector's photo prints" of the group.

Availability
The Rolling Stones Remastered SACD Box Set is now available from Amazon.Com's U.K. affiliate (Amazon.co.uk) for a price of £153.99. When the Stones SACD Boxed set arrives on record store shelves in the U.K. I've heard that the price record buyers will encounter will likely be somewhere around £170-200.

The U.K. edition of the Stones SACD box set is also planned to be imported in to the U.S. by the Red Trumpet audiophile web site. Red Trumpet is now accepting pre-orders for the imported edition of the box set at a price of $369.00 for the 16 SACD disc set.

Wow, almost twice the price I paid for 16 Dylan hybrid SACDs! (BOB being two discs)

 

And the Dylan box gave you all the reissues, with this one just providing the essentials.

Too bad these sets rarely give you a price break for buying 'em all at once. I guess that's what quality outfits like Red Trumpet are all about...
