Too rich for my blood--I'm hoping for a U.S. release, and one that splits the CD and vinyl sets into separate releases.

    A crazy pipedream...

I thank for you that.

I was looking for info, but didn't find anything by searching "Smiths box" in the titles.

Could a Gort close this thread or re-title the other one for posterity, or merge the two threads?

So...' Hatful...' plus 'World...' plus 'Louder...' plus all those singles seems like ever such a lot of duplication. Can't quite see the point myself.

How many tracks are exclusive to 'Louder...'? Three? Four?

If you have those other two UK comps? I think it's more like one, and even that is just a different version.

I'm sure it has been discussed before, but the vinyl reissues didn't exactly sound great to my ears...

It has been. I think some folks rather liked them, actually.

GBP 34.99 for the CD set seems okay, but that Deluxe does seem pretty steep.

I would expect that the amazon.uk price will be better.

It would be nice to get the Troy Tate version of the first album from the original masters. I'm sure they're still around.

They used the Troy Tate version of "Pretty Girls Make Graves" as an official B-side (on the "I Started Something I Couldn't Finish" single), so that would strongly suggest that they are indeed still around and that the band aren't 100% averse to having them issued either.

I believe that the problem isn't that Morrissey is opposed to releasing the Troy Tate sessions so much as he is opposed to authorizing any previously unreleased material at all due to the fact that Mike Joyce would profit financially from such releases. He has no ability to put a halt to reissuing previously released material and may even participate in reissue projects to avoid tarnishing the legacy, but that is different from authorizing previously unreleased material. Note that no previously unreleased Smiths material has seen the light of the day since Morrissey lost the court case involving Mike Joyce.

Eh, I just hope the CD set will be good, then I can get rid of my current CDs...
