    Not including greatest hits compilations there were ten albums to reach #1 in 1979.

    Which one is your favorite?

    Tusk wasn't #1, apparently, so The Long Run gets my vote.

  4. It might not really be my fave, but I voted for The Blues Brothers because (a) it was a better album than it had any right to be, and (b) the fact it got so popular was so wonderfully nutty.

  5. Supertramp

    Some good stuff here. Bee Gees of course, though I would love to hear a non-total-falsetto version of Spririts.

    Tough choice between Belushi and Billy Joel but Billys very best album cannot top that BAND. Blues Brothers by a nose and a half.

    You guys are gonna want to smack me for this one;

    Rod Stewart Blondes Have More Fun.

    I never get tired of Do Ya Think I'm Sexy, Dirty Weekend, Ain't Love A Bitch or Attractive Female Wanted. I still pull this one out, the others not so much.

    Suprised Damn the Torpedoes or The Wall wasn't number 1 in 1979. The only album up there I've heard in full is The Long Run and I can't vote for that. Never thought it was very good compared to their other albums.

    I'm voting for one of the underdogs: Get the Knack. I still love "My Sharona" (and the picture sleeve of the 45). Have some wonderful memories of that summer, when I was 17. My parents went away and I was left alone for 3 weeks. My first taste of freedom. Saw the Knack at Carnegie Hall. Had a great time.

    Oh man, I remember this 45! At the time I was 12 and thought that woman's "headlamps" was the most scadalous thing Id seen on a record sleeve since something from the Ohio Players! Ended up with that 45 AND the album.

    But Led Zep's In Through The Out Door was my favorite of that year.

    I'll go with Supertramp because it is the only one on this list that isn't completely terrible.

    The Knack and Led Zep are the only two on that list that I could ever bear to sit through again. I flipped a coin and voted Led Zep.

    That was a lean year. Easy choice - but where was Candy-O? Never #1?
