  2. Costs $350 and it's available beginning August 31st...I haven't owned an outboard DAC since my old Audio Alchemy 20-bit HDCD box, but this is tempting me...
By the way, Lee...the company name is definitely the schiit!!!

If you have both a headphone amp and the new DAC then I guess you can say you are in deep Schiit.

  4. I still have my old Audio Alchemy amp and their beefed-up power supply...guess I AM in deep schiit, Lee!!!:agree::laugh:

I may have to get this. I hear their headphone amps wipe the **** of the competition.

A honest review too, not one trying to polish a turd.

They've been hinting that a device that rhymes with yak would be available sometime soon. This must be it.

It'll be on my want list. I'll be curious about how the driver situation for Windows works out. How well the drivers work and get along with the hardware and various media players. With a USB DAC a lot depends on the drivers. I'm assuming it's standard USB Class 2 which would mean Mac and Linux would be good to go with standard OS supplied drivers.

I've got the Asgard amp (listening to it play David Gilmour with my Grado SR325is right now). The Bifrost DAC would seem a cosmetic fit and good for some more word play. It looks like I'll be looking at the HRT Streamer II+ and the Bifrost as my likely next DAC.

I can't honestly own equipment with that name. Well, that's more schiit for the rest of you!

How about some creative commentary instead of the obvious? Sounds like someone has an anal fixation.

$100 more for the option of a USB input? That should be standard on all DACs in this day and age.

So you are saying you don't give a Schiit?

On a more serious note, this DAC is designed by Mike Moffat, the former Theta Digital designer.

Another way to look at it is that for $449 you get a DAC with coax, optical, and USB inputs. Nice flexibility there considering the number of DACs going USB only.

I'm a very happy owner of the Asgard headphone amp so I'm looking forward to this. Their customer service is exceptional too.

I just ordered the DAC. I've been so happy with the Asgard amp that I'm willing to buy the DAC on spec.
