I like both as well, but I listen to a hell of a lot more Monkees then Tull.

Agreed. The two bands are too different for this to make sense. The only thing tethering them is that they are two of the OP's favorites. That's not nearly enough to make a sensible poll.

surprisingly close for a poll that people are calling stupid.

It's stupid not because the question is a no-brainer but because the bands are as apples and oranges as it gets. What next? Madness vs Slayer? King Crimson vs Ronnetes? Carpenters vs Bach?

Apples and oranges. I see little basis for comparison--I sensed a joke when I saw this one, actually. I have been impressed by the strength of the fan bases behind both of these bands here though. I'm a little surprised at how well they've endured over the years, particularly the Monkees, who were conceived as kind of a disposable pop band. It's a testament to the strength of their material, as well as the savvy execution.

The Monkees are great, but not really master musicians like Tull. I go Jethro.

Basically comparing apples and oranges, but there's no question I prefer the monkees, their songs, their singing, and their personae. Till has better flute solos.

I'm not even going to vote. Worst poll ever. Just like saying, "Which is better, tile or dessert?"
