Weird that 16/44.1 has been a member here since 2006, by that time should know how these work.

For the matter, I suppose Play.com seems to have cheapest deluxe edition preorder prices in Europe (10,99£, 13,99€) and theres not any postages to add.

I hate to sound like a broken record but why haven't the standard editions been announced in the US?

Okay. No BBC version of We Will Rock You (Fast). That's disappointing.

Just picked up the rest of the first batch today. So far I've only listened to bonus tracks. The inclusion of the Live Killers version of Love of My Life is just insulting.

Queen will always be my favourite band, but yes... the Pink Floyd re-issues put Queen's into crying shame!

Shame on you Dr. Brian May and Mr. Roger Taylor...

For those who already have these, was Day At The Races as nicely done as the reviews indicate for Queen I and II?

Yeah, those Queen re-issues now seems almost like footnotes or small ripples compared to the vast and ambitious re-mastering programs from McCartney and Pink Floyd.

I Like the Super Jewel cases of the Queen remasters though - a nice touch!

    Amazon shows 5/17

  20. My copy is still on order. I'm hoping that it is as good as Queen, Queen II and Sheer Heart Attack. I think it will be.

ha ha, yes, yes, sad but true.

it is pretty loud......tie you mother down to loud IMO

  22. That song was recorded and mixed in a pretty loud way. It's always been pretty hot.

I don't get all jiggy with waveforms and over-analysis of these things, but I did a fairly intense A/B with the DAY AT THE RACES remaster and the MFSL. I like the remaster better. It's a tick louder, but not appreciably so. I hear better definition of instruments and the sound is more open. The MFSL, by comparison, sounds more cluttered and the mids aren't there as much as I would like. BTW I bought the non-bonus disc version and saved myself $7.

  24. That's good. Because I have sold my MFSL! The MFSL didn't get the mids right in my opinion.

I'll just lump on the pile and say that at this point the Queen reissues are a horrible disappointment, excepting of course the improvement in sound quality for the first two albums. They really are just being put to shame by the Bowie/Pink Floyd/Petty/Neil/etc. campaigns of late.

The "bonus" tracks are just a slap in the face. The only hope is for a decent "rarities" heavy box and hi-rez versions down the road (the dubious Japanese downloads being a good step in the right direction).
