There have been a couple of posts in the past couple of days with single sale items at Amazon. But the truth is that over the past few days Amazon has been having an unadvertised clearance sale on select items. The prices are dropped dramatically, but can pop back up at any time. So act quickly.

Here are some deals currently available (a lot of stuff has come and gone, so I'm only listing the stuff still available).

I'm only listing stuff sold BY AMAZON. That means free shipping > $25 or prime.

Please add anything you might find to this thread. Please keep it limited to stuff sold BY AMAZON and real slash and burn clearance prices).

    Yeah, I'm just quoting Amazon.

Replace "1990 master" with "inferior previous edition" and you'll be set.

Incidentally, almost all of the "1990 master," er, "previous edition" Beatles CDs were $3.90 last night. Most have reverted to higher prices now.

I am surprised no one is jumping on the Boz Skaggs 180g "audiophile" reissue.

It's a classic album, and you can buy it for $4.49 shipped from Amazon, or you can buy it for $25 PLUS shipping from Elusive Disc, here: http://www.elusivedisc.com/prodinfo.asp?number=FRMLP9003

They claim the pressing is limited to 2000 copies, and it's 1/2 speed mastered from the "original 1969 session tapes".

This is a very cool archival release by the woman who wrote "Hey Joe" and had it stolen from her by her boyfriend...Comes from the only extant source, a warped acetate. Vinyl ONLY release. On Numero Records (who do a lot of releases of cool overlooked stuff).

I just read one of the customer reviews on the Boz Scaggs' S/T debut...he says the classic " Loan Me A Dime " is a remix !?!?!? That Friday music brought up Duane, to emphasize his presence, and took every other instrument down ??? If anyone that has this, or ordered it today could please report back on this, I would be very grateful !!! In fact, a PM would guarantee I don't miss it.
    Thanks !

The reviews on Amazon are mostly for the CD. I see only 1 review for the lp, and the review says nothing about a remix. I ordered this today for myself, never hearing the original lp. The price was definitely right.

Here's a description of the Boz Scaggs lp on the Friday Music Web site:

In 1969, Boz Scaggs' debut release on Atlantic Records was a stunning classic recording that has earned its place in the history of rock, blues and popular music. Celebrating its four decade birthday, Friday Music has located the original session tapes, which haven't been available since the early seventies, and have spared no expense with the mastering process to deliver what we feel is the definitive audiophile reissue of the year!

The nine songs that make this incredible album such a winner has a lot to do with the musicianship, writing skills, and the great voice of Boz Scaggs that has endured for over four decades in the music industry. Fans remember exciting blues oriented tracks like I'm Easy and I'll Be Long Gone as some of the most important songs of this much loved platter.

With the famous Muscle Shoals studio sound, along with some of the finest musicians in the business, Boz and company delivered nine tracks of whack, that have stood the test of time, including one of his most famous works Loan Me A Dime, which hands down opened the doors for a lot of the cross over blues music that is being recorded today. This much emulated and loved work as well as the other great songs from the album feature the sorely missed guitar styling of the late Duane Allman.

For the first edition run of this masterwork, we are including a textured gatefold cover, along with the original graphics, poly lined protective album sleeve, and poly vinyl cover for the album cover. Pour your favorite glass of wine, place the pristine master on your turntable, crank it up and enjoy!

Amazon co-mingles vinyl and CD reviews. It appears this review was for the CD...

I find it IMPOSSIBLE to believe that Atlantic (WEA) would allow Friday Music to significantly remix the album for release. I don't know if Scaggs has any say over the album, but I would also consider it unlikely that Scaggs would sign off on a dramatic remix to emphasize Allman's guitar.

Actually, the fact that Friday Music says it was mastered from the original "1969 SESSION tapes" is odd. Hmmm...Who looks for session tapes UNLESS you're doing a remix...Maybe the mixdown master is missing?

In the end, who knows. But I'll guarantee you this: By the time anyone here sorts it out, the album won't be available cheaply from Amazon anymore. Worth a gamble, I'd say, at < $5.

I was just looking at the Friday Music page for the Boz Scaggs album, here:

    http://www.fridaymusic.com/releases/scaggs.html

and I noticed that for the Atlantic album, they give an odd (p) 2008 Warner Bros credit.

That suggests to me that it may well be a remix of some sort. Although it could be a mix from the session tapes to recreate the original mixdown master or something...

I'll add that when Atlantic reissued the album in the late '70s, in the wake of Scaggs' success, they remixed it THEN. I haven't heard that (late '70s) remix. I wonder if that's what has been used on the standard CD?
