Rush Chronicles v Retrospective I & II
Chronicles was recommended over the single best-of, "The Spirit of Radio" on another Rush thread. I know that the catalog was remastered since Chronicles was released. Retrospective I is missing a few key Rush tracks Working Man, and Passage to Bangkok which are on Chronicles. I know both Retro I&II are remastered. And yet Bob Ludwig is credited with mastering and compiling on Chronicles. Can anyone verify if maybe this two CD set was remastered even if at the time the individual albums on CD were not?
Which is the better two disc collection. How does Chronicles sound? One forum member did address this on the other thread that it was done before the catalog was remastered, but didn't address the mastering of Chronicles. I want a good Rush collection and don't want to spend money on an anthology that suffers in terms of sound quality. Appreciate any input from my fellow Rush fans! Sorry for starting another Rush thread for just this info! Brian ![]() |

Chronicles sounds awesome! Better track listing, better sound!
I'm sure you can find a cheap copy used. I would never part w/ my Chronicles!

Shawn,
Thanks! I know that with remastering (and I'm not including Rush remasters in this) louder is deemed better. I just couldn't believe Chronicles sounds poor! I just found Retrospective I's selection spotty. Yes it has those songs missing on Chronicles (such as Xanadu, By-Tor And The Snow Dog, or The Analog Kid on Retro 2). But how do you include Something for Nothing over A Passage to Bangkok? Brian |
