Those of you who have primo SACD (Super Audio Compact Disk) players probably already have every Sony stereo disk they ever issued but those who don't, grab this one. Last year I bought it when it started becoming hard to find and I'm glad I did. It's great.

No idea who mastered it but it sounds just as good as the master tape. In many ways, better ('cause the original mixes were so wonky EQ wise to begin with).

If you like this album (and who doesn't?), find yourself an SACD version before they all vanish like a "Summer Breeze".

I have not played the multi-channel part but it might be the old Quad mix. Anyone know?

    The stereo section Kills!

Disclaimer: Will NOT play on a regular CD player.

Later: I got my copy either at MUSIC DIRECT, ACOUSTIC SOUNDS or ELUSIVE DISC. Forgot which...

Well, it is officially hard to find. At least none on Amazon. Anyone know where to find one for a reasonable price?

No matter what format, 3+3 is one killer album.

  6. I have been trying to find this one for years at a price I am willing to pay. It has been very difficult to find for a number of years. I believe it is correct to say the 5.1 mix was derived from the original quad master tapes and was made to sound very similar. How that was done and how it actually compares to the original quad is unknown to me since I haven't heard either one.

Got this one for my birthday back in 2002.

Love the sound and it's one of Sony's best SACD's for sure.

I need to hear this... I think Summer Breeze might be the greatest cover version ever recorded... A total re - imagination of a great song, the guitar on this kills me. I remember when I was a kid seeing them do it on one of the late night music shows, Midnight Special or Don Kirchner. It was mind blowing!

I have it and it is the quad mix. A fine sounding disc in stereo or multi-channel. I thought Mark Wilder had mastered it. Too bad Sony couldn't do the rest of the Isley's catalog.

This is a great SACD. I bought it years ago and still love it.

I seem to recall reading here that the remastered CD was a disappointment. So it has a different mastering than the SACD?

Great disc, picked this up a year ago and seems I was lucky; wish I hadn't missed out on the O'jays disc...

I know what I'm going to play when I get home! :D

This thread once again confirms that most of those early Sony Music single layer SACDs are worth hunting down.

I bought it and the O'Jays SACD's a few years back and just love the sound. While I was at, I didn't get the Michael Jackson and Mariah Cary SACD's.

3+3 is a very long time favorite and the SACD release is excellent.

I have it but have never listened closely. I'm not a huge fan of the music, but I'll give it another listen.
