Thought it would be nice to have a thread with lots of pics of this famous LP. I own two of them. Here is the first one, and my favorite:

Nice - A promo white label RL! SS stands for Sterling Sound, the studio where the album was mastered. They are still in business: http://www.sterling-sound.com/ - they still do vinyl!

Here's mine. It's one with a Gold Record Award sticker. Only Side B has RL SS. Side A just has RL.

    I can't, I sold mine when I was unemployed. :(

What do you think the chances are of me finding another one for $10 in nice shape ?

Will a Gort please move this thread somewhere less conspicuous, it is very distressing for forum members who don't own a copy!

Agreed - I'd kill for one. Every weekend I'm at the record store hoping I'll happen upon one. No luck so far. The one I have is an ST-A-691671DCW - an 1841 Broadway. Is it one of the early pressings?

Go on-line, many sellers don't know what an "RL" is. That's how I got mine (Gemm.com). I saw an "original 1969 copy" listed, so I e-mailed the seller, and asked them to check the run-off area for the "RL" initials. They replied, yes it does. I told them I was buying it. VG+ for $25. - Keep looking, you will find one!

Good advice. And a few tips - look for the pastel color covers (the brown is a light milk chocolate color) without a Gold RIAA award sticker, and if they show the inner sleeve, originals used the 'Atlantic' marked one with seven (vertical) rows of LP pictures.

(Of course sleeves get replaced and it is possible an RL vinyl got put in a later RIAA stickered cover.)

So I decided to go to the vinyl shop about a year ago, on a whim. Didn't have anything particular on my mind actually. After almost giving up on not finding anything, I WONDERED how things are in the LZ bin. So I walk over to the bin. Saw a price of 14.99 on Led Zeppelin II, took the record out of the sleeve...and it was like finding the Golden Ticket in Willy Wonka. The copies I find are usually thrashed. Mine is NICE. Very nice. It's all about chance. Good luck.

Only today I looked at about half a dozen copies of Led Zeppelin II, every one of them was thrashed and not one of them had RL SS on them. By the way, the cheapest one for sale was €10 (about $13.50), what an insult.

I have a White Label Promo and just recently found another copy with standard labels.

My brother gave me the White Label Promo as a Christmas present in 2008. He's had it for years. He found it at a garage sale down the street from his house. Later on, my brother's big dog decided to take a few bites out of the cover! The dog decided to bypass the Journey and Bee Gees LPs and go right for the LZ promo! Fortunately, the dog did not bite the record itself. The vinyl plays VG to VG+. Normally I'm incredibly fussy and would never listen to a record in this condition, but this record just screams out. The power is undeniable.

The deadwax is identical on both copies.

    SIDE ONE: ST - A 691671 - A WLP W AT RL
SIDE TWO: (narrow deadwax) ST- A 691672 - A WLP AT RL SS W

Lucky devils! I hope this will be mine...someday! The closest I got was a 1970 pressing that only played in the right channel. I took it back. :sigh:

Neither for me - I am interested in the other versions of RLs - I think there are at least 4. I want to get them all, and I'd like to see what the subtle differences are. In addition, people have asked me what to look for to get one of these - a picture is worth...

Teehee I found one with a thrashed cover but a MINT record inside with RL on both sides, with the narrow side two. One week ago from today actually.
    Price?
    $2.99 :D

I've passed on a few RL's because the condition was so bad. I'm still hoping to find one in at least VG+ condition.
