I just realized there will be a bunch of JH "deluxe" reissues on 180gr vinyl expected to be released in March 2010. These include AYE, Axis and Layland...

Does anyone here know any details regarding these vinyl reissues? Will these be full analog production LP's?

I was about to order the currently available 2xLP Axis 100% analog mastered from stereo tapes. Should I wait for the new release instead?

Sorry, I think this version from Universal 'Back To Black' Series - 60th Anniversary, pressed at RTI, all analog, is just 1 LP after all... not 2xLP.

Anyway, I'm very much interested in finding out who is responible for the new reissues mastering and pressing.

I can tell you I will be getting Electric Ladyland, one of my most favourite records of all time...I am happy with the Back to Black AYE, and of course Valleys of Neptune will be an essential purchase.

Yeah, but it's George Marino doing the mastering. Who gets kicked around here like a junkyard dog. I think he's talented myself.

His masterings of Axis...Bold As Love on Universal's 'Back To Black' series and Band Of Gypsys on Classic Records are stellar, IMO.

I'm in for Electric Ladyland for sure.

But he also did a digitally sourced AYE LP for universal, right? I wonder if the same digital source will be used again for this reissue.

This sentence "remastered from the original two-track mixdown master tapes" doesn't really tell us there is no digital processing in the production chain for these LP's...

Did he do the classic Band of Gypsys? That was SOOOO good!

Does anyone know if they have them in stock? When I click on the links the page says 'Coming March 9th'.

If 'Are You Experienced' and 'Electric Ladyland' are as good as the 'Axis' analogue back to black vinyl reissue then I will be a very happy customer.

Acoustic Sounds mentions 17 tracks for AYE reissue... But does not mention if this will be 2LP...

    http://store.acousticsounds.com/d/65679/Jimi_Hendrix-Are_You_Experienced-180_Gram_Vinyl_LP

    Same with Amazon:

    http://www.amazon.com/Are-Experienced-Vinyl-Jimi-Hendrix/dp/B0033AGPEY

I suppose it takes 2LP to fit all the 17 tracks...

I doubt Marino will improve upon the Polydor vinyl of Electric Ladyland. I'm quite happy with that. I wouldn't mind hearing the AYE though. I agree that Marino did a great job on Classic's BOG. That sounds awesome!

It's sad they don't take the opportunity to release AYE as 2xLP with all the 17 tracks mastered from analog source.

Anyone care to do the math to estimate how long each side will be?
