A few months back, I posted an article from an old issue of Mad magazine that talked about the hi-fi craze of the late 50's:

Anyway, Mad struck again in the mid 60's with "The Lighter Side Of Music Lovers" (Issue #106 / Oct. '66).

After browsing some of the obsessive threads in this forurm, I can't help but think that this strip might just have a ring of truth to it.... ;)

About the time of this comic strip my father bought a stereo.

It was a Garrard Lab Series TT, a Fisher A-100 integrated, a Fisher FM-50 mono tuner, a Knight R2R and EV Triaxial speakers; Lots of buttons and knobs, not to mention TUBES.

He set me up for this!

My Dad too, with a Dynaco tuner, pre-amp (with adjustable stereo spread!) and amp, EV speakers and an AR turntable. The Dynaco material was customized by a freind of my dad's who was an electrical engineer. That system gave great sound for about twenty years, about twelve of which I got quite a bit of exposure to its nice sound.
