The Amazon US price is good, but will probably go down before they are released. Hopefully around 33% instead of the 20% they are at now.

But if you pre-order them now, at whatever the price is, Amazon will guarantee you the lowest price between when you pre-order and when it's released. Whenever the price drops, you're locked-in at that price. If it raises back up, you're still locked in at the lower price.

Does anybody know if there will be different US vs UK pressings? If no difference then I'll consider ordering from Amazon US otherwise I'll order from Amazon UK. From previous experience it seems that UK Beatles pressings are more valuable than US pressings (for collectors). Am I wrong?

At these prices, there's also something to be said for having the opportunity to pick out the specific boxes you want. To look them over, check the corners, check the printing...the alignment...and really agonize over just which one you want to give a home to!

Which basically means Best Buy, Wal Mart or Target, right?

    Best Buy?

We probably won't know Best Buy's sale price (and possible premium give-a-way) until a week before the drop date or will that information be released sooner?

    dbacon,

The amazon.co.uk price you posted is misleading.

Purchasing from the USA, I don't have to pay the VAT ("value added tax") that is included in the price you post. amazon.co.uk removes the VAT once you begin the check out process.

This is why my cost plus shipping for both boxes together is $417.74 USD, based on today's currency conversion.

    Mono is 137.38 pounds
    Stereo is 117.03 pounds
    Shipping is 4.07 pounds

In a sense, I'm not sure why everyone isn't pre-ordering from amazon.co.uk. You don't get charged until it ships. You can cancel at least up to September 1st (I would be a little wary of delaying a cancellation later than that because many times amazon.co.uk will ship prior to the official release date).

This is true, but be aware you will likely be hit for import duty when the boxes finally ship.

How are you getting these prices? When I checkout it shows:

    Mono 173.90 pounds
    Stereo 139.11 pounds
    Shipping 4.07 pounds

    after VAT is removed

Got an email from Elusive Disc:

    mono $239.99
    stereo $207.99
    (Same as Amazon.com)

ED clarifies that the mono box is limited to 10,000 copies in the U.S.

Import Duty?! I've been buying stuff from amazon.co.uk for years. Never paid or saw import duty.

This is my order from amazon.co.uk. I removed the personal stuff. I made this order on June 9th. You can begin the check out process, see what price you ultimately get and then not complete the transaction if you choose.

I forget what the original price was on June 9th so I can't address that.

See where it mentions VAT down below.

Yes, Amazon.co.uk. has jacked up the price of the mono box by almost 50 pounds.

  15. I wonder how many Canada is getting, especially with Amazon Canada having a competitive price.

So will the stereo box not be limited? I was going to pass on the Mono but at 10,000 sets* I might have to.

    heatherly
    * has that amount been verified by Apple/EMI?

Only 10,000 Mono Boxes!!!! Is that worldwide??? Either way, sounds like it's a good idea to snag the Mono Box before anything else.

I usually would agree with you...however, with only 10,000 Mono boxes being made, I want to take NO chances. Knowing Best Buy and the others, they will only carry the stereo box...

I think the Elusive Disc ad is misleading. The implication is that you need to preorder these now from Elusive disc . . . because the Beatles' reissues will "sell out quick."

To be sure, this may be relevant to the mono box sets, but from reading the ad, I get the impression that we should fear that the stereo sets will "sell out quick" as well. Kind of cheesy IMO.

They will sell out quick....forcing Elusive to reorder more from their distributor! :righton:

    Father,
Yes you were wise to pre-order when you did.
And yes, as anyone knows who's ordered from amazonuk, fr or de there's no import duty.
I am a little surprised by the 10,000 US mono set limit.
    Oh well.

I've gone for the mono box from amazon, even with the suspicion they may do a second batch a la Wilburys.

  24. I wish we had an official statement from EMI as to how many mono boxes there will be. Not to knock Elusive, but we don't know what their source is for the 10k number.

To me, it doesn't make sense that EMI/Apple would go to all the trouble to make the mono box and then only produce 10,000 copies. Especially as this looks like it could be one of the best Beatle packages they've ever released. I can understand keeping it somewhat limited to create excitement (or panic, depending on how one looks at it) but 10k seems like an incredibly small run to me.

You should try to support your indie store if you have one...
