Does that Progressive Insurance woman annoy anyone besides me?

I HAVE to change the channel when that commercial comes on. Everything about her just rubs me the wrong way. I switched to Allstate just because of her (well, not because of her, that was 7 years ago).

 

Her name is "Flo," and she has something of a cult following. Personally, she affects me the same way that you describe. For an interesting discussion, you can look up her name on Slate.com.

 

She is totally hot.

Nope...what really annoys me is the volume pump on most of the car and medical/bodily function commercials....

 

That headband; that lipstick.

 

Getting her 15, er 25 min of fame or whatever.....this too will pass....

 

She is cute! I kind of like nerdy girls.

They try and make her come off as cute, but I think it is annoying.

I'm completely with you. I find her grating on the level of Kathy Griffin and Carrot Top.

 

She looks better off-camera.

 

She does look way better (though I really wish you hadn't posted the second pic...ugh), according to what I read it takes two hours to do all the makeup and stuff for the commercials. And, no, if I had ever thought about buying Progressive, I won't.

The Flo character has always creeped me out. She looks like a time traveler from a Roger Corman Beatnik movie coffeehouse.

I think "out-of-character" would be more accurate since it was a camera that took that first photo and she looks fiiiine. And Steve disclosing the fact that she's a Groundling, I now adore her.

I switched from Liberty Mutual because of their darn bullfrogs.

 

I think she's funny. It's her job to be annoying in the commercials, it distracts you into noticing her unconventionality by trying to fit into "uniform". You look at the TV and so see the darned Progessive logo. That's all that matters to them. She plays a charming, witty, but hopelessly geeky and fashion challenged charachter there. It's growing on me ;-). The Gecko, I can do without and the cavemen have long lost their charm... Fortunately, I don't shop for insurance by TV impressions.
