Apologies if this thread has been covered before

I did do the search, and I even remember posting something about, but now I can't find it. All I could find is this related thread:

It's got a fine track listing and many goodies... I shall buy it without much delay, but some things I just don't understand:
Why split the Playboy performance over the 2 discs?
    Why repeat Burn?
Why only one song from Doing Their Thing?
Why only two tracks from Tokyo 75?

I already figure Doing Their Thing and Rises Over Japan will see release at some other time so that we pay again... But for the life of me I can't think of anything that might answer my first two questions...

Still, a nice collection with much to enjoy!

Also it would have been nice to have the MK II during the 1980's as well...
However I am eagerly looking forward to this release with great anticipation!

Wasn't this set also supposed to include some silent 8mm footage of the August 1972 Japanese shows?

That's not the point of this DVD release, sure there are gaps, but this is about the original band in their prime.

Besides, the management is totally different for the "reformed" Deep Purple. The 1968 to '76 is Deep Purple Overseas Ltd (HEC Enterprises), but the reformed is managed by Bruce Payne (the old Rainbow Management).

Simon Robinson of the DPAS, "let go" of this project, so whilst it is eagerly anticipated, it didn't have their involvement. There's a lot of stuff which is new...but a lot of stuff which we have all paid for before. However, I'm sure it will be totally groovy nontheless:cool:

    kevin5brown Analog or bust.

Has anyone yet looked for overlap with the other already available DVDs? I'm specifically thinking of Vol 1 and Vol 2 of New, Live, & Rare.

Yeah, I've heard about that too. The highway star site posted some images of the 8mm films and this is the current info

    http://www.deep-purple.net/mk1-6news/mk1to6news.htm

in response to a number of enquiries about the reported inclusion on the DVD of a clip from the 1972 'Made In Japan' shows, this originates from some Super 8mm footage known to have been shot during the tour, though we cannot as yet confirm. (Some Super 8mm footage was also shot of the band in Liverpool 1973).

This looks awesome! I'm in. I love these double DVD "career spanning" sets, such as the "Led Zeppelin" 2 DVD set, & AC/DC's "Plugged In".

I sure hope the audio/video quality of the new DVD is at least a bit better than that clip .........

Should be pretty cool. It would be nice if there were a few additional Tokyo '75 performances.

Anybody wishing to watch 30 seconds clips of all the tracks:

    www.jpc.de,go to top right,click "English",search for the item(it's already listed),and you'll find the clips.
JPC is a fairly large(and very good)mail-order company here in germany!

Best price I've found so far is $20 w/ free shipping at deepdiscount.com

Has anyone found a better price than that?

There seems to be all sorts of little clips. The opening(CH1 clip) Bolin bit does not look like Fireball Over Japan footage (but it's a while since I saw it), the Fireball(CH 13) looks like the lost Top of the Pops footage and then as you say, the Concert destruction from Japan. And The Address from Playboy After dark(CH24) is unseen by me too. Looks like there will be some happy Purple fans. I also want to see the full SouthBank(Ch 6) show which I first saw at the 1st DPAS Convention in Sheffield in 1993.
