I apologize if this has been posted, searching for "Rolling Stones" brings back lots of results and I haven't seen this mentioned:

To me, unless they are including unreleased tracks (they aren't) I'm not interested.

I was very happy with the last remasters, save for maybe GHS.

That article only lists "2009 Re-Mastered" next to the first four post-Abkco albums??

At least these come out next month. I'd really like to read some reviews here before I go out and pick up the the CBS ones.

I would be interested to hear what they do with Dirty Work.
Which, I believe was the first Stones album that was released on CD new (i think it came out a few weeks after the LP).
I remember picking it up at Peaches Records in Clearwater all those years ago.
    Still have it today.

...which means this will be the last time (nudge nudge), since there will be no labels in 2019, just cell phone providers who own all of the masters and have digitized everything, with complete discographies with the purchase of a 2-year plan.

It's Keith who hates the concept of a box set, right?

Not sure. Back in 2002, he was preparing a multi-disc archival set with outtakes and live material. Instead, 40 Licks appeared.

No, the problem is Mick. He once said that CD box sets are difficult to sit through.

I'm guessing the big problem is that they love the money they get from touring.
Easier to throw out another studio album/live/greatest hits to go on the road with and add millions to their coffers, then to actually sit down and work on a retrospective that they will only see sale dollars from.
The cynic in me seems to think that there isn't enough of release worthy material out there.
I have heard a bunch, and I love it all, but it is very rough around the edges.
I sometimes feel if they ever went the distance and mixed a song for release, they went ahead and released it.
I still would love to hear some alternate versions of classics like the wonderful Memory Motel alt mix, and Keith singing Gimme Shelter or Mick singing Happy, etc.

  17. I honestly thought that all of the 1970-1980 discs
had already been redone by Bob Ludwig.

Perhaps the OP meant "post 1980"

    So, nothing new

no bonus tracks, alternate mixes, DVD, 5.1, etc :o

Rolling Stones and AC/DC must be the worst bands reissues-wise :thumbsdn:

As Phil Cohen noted, by all accounts it is Mick who opposes any bonus tracks, outtakes, box set, etc.

I don't really see the need to remaster the current Stones 70s and 80s CDs. They sound pretty good in their current incarnations.

Put Genesis in that equation. Not only did those 2 cd sets sounds bad, they deleted the original mixes. A major thumbs down.

I still have all of my old Columbia cd's which I bought in 1989 and like them just fine. If these reissues were ot use the same mastering as the 1994 cd's but have bonus/unreleased material, I might shell out for them. Regardless, the Columbia discs will remain on my shelf. :)
