There's some interesting information about the rumored new Bob Dylan album in the print edition of the latest Rolling Stone.

Excellent news, the guy is on fire creatively these last few years. "Bob takes all of those disparate elements you hear and puts them into a track. But you can't put your finger on it - 'It sounds exactly like that.' That's why he's so original." That quote sums it up beautifully.

With all due respect -- which Dylan mode would you like to hear?

AFAIK, the current 'late-model worldly troubadour' Dylan is the perfect summation of his entire career, and I have a hard time imagining a different incarnation, which is why I ask.

I know,, I know.. and I love it. Dont get me wrong. I am just ready to here a harder edged Dylan. A step up from some of the more rocking stuff on love and Theft. Hard to explain I guess. Like I said.. Im all over the album when it comes out. I just want something a bit more rockin' and not so safe.

Well, I need to learn to read dont I?

"You would never expect the record after Modern Times to sound like this"

This makes me feel better :)

    I stand corrected !

Maybe its vinyl only...due to his distaste for digital sound quality.

"Modern Times" was recorded in digital. Christopher Shaw used ProTools for this one, as Bob was impressed by the speed with which Shaw could swap verses during the mixing session for "Across The Green Mountain".

Ah, that makes perfect sense. There were moments that felt a little too safe on Modern Times for me as well. Sounds like you're looking for a bit more bite and a bit less creak.

    With Bob, anything is possible....

:D Wow--how naive am I. This never occured to me, but it probably should have. I'm willing to shell out the $$$ for a CD/DVD set. But please, Bob, don't let Sony put out a $100-plus "deluxe" version.

Is the S&G Live 69 the same album that was sold through Starbucks?

That's a great line. The most recent Bootleg Series caused me to re-evaluate Modern Times. Looking forward to this one.
