Here's a couple of pics of my Dual 604 I picked up recently. Still in the process of refurbishment but I'm having a ball with it! A brand new ADC Mk II cart is on the way...

My trusty 1985 Linn LP12 with Well Tempered Arm and Dynavector 17D3 Moving Coil cartridge, still going strong and churning out the 'tunes'.

Looks like the Aries uses the same JMW arm as the VPI.

Good advice. I second that. Here's another helping of my Sony PS-X75 and PS-X5.

  10. Ah, what the heck! Here's my Sota Comet again . . .

  11. I neglected to mention the arm and cart-- Rega RB300 and Grado Platinum. There's an Expressimo VTA adjuster barely visible at the base of the arm, too. Other accessories include a Sota i-Clamp, Shure stylus tracking force gauge, Mobile Fidelity Geodisc, Hunt EDA Mark VI brush, and new blue sorbothane pads for the plinth's 3 support legs. Phono preamp is a Musical Fidelity X-LPSv3 with the X-PSUv3 power supply.

My main turntable is a Linn Sondek LP12 (circa late '80s) with a Linn Basik tonearm (non-removable headshell) and Linn Adikt cartridge.

I also have a second turntable which is strictly used for 78s. It is a Dual 1019 (circa late 60s or early 70s) with a Stanton 500 MkII cartridge fitted with a 78RPM stylus.

a DUAL CS 701 DD without LID and with LID halfway open.
A great feature of this model ... and what's the use of a Turntable without some records to play .... :)

So how good are those Grado carts? I'm seriously tempted to save up for a Sonata, although the Dyna 10x5 and Denon DL-103R are also in my sights. I definitely want something that's a leap above my current Denon DL-160, something that really knocks my socks off.

    Nice.

Proof that I'm not the only WTA user using Firebaugh's alternative cartridge mounting.
