Somehow, I didn't expect David Crosby's father to look like that.

 

LOL...Neither did I

 

Dave's father is Floyd Crosby, who was a cinematographer in Hollywood. "High Noon" is one of his crefits

Hey, that be my 8th grade substitute math teacher.

 

I bet his dad didn't expect David to grow up looking like that.

 

Anyone notice the painting on the Zappas' wall? It was used for the Alice Cooper LP "Pretties For You".

 

When I first glanced at that Zappa photo, I thought that painting was a widescreen TV on the wall!

 

He looked kinda cherubic in his early Byrds days.

 

I bet none of the parents thought their kids would become the success they did, but I'm sure they encouraged their kids to pursue their dreams - you only go around once.

So, "You wanna be a Rock 'n Roll Star?"

What's funny is back then the parent's houses were probably seen as 'square' compared to their hip children.

Now I think any hippy den would be laughed at, but to have clean, modern room like Mr. Crosby's would be seen as seriously hip.

I have this issue!

 

I remember seeing that photo of Mr. & Mrs. Zappa at the time, and thinking, "hey, they're pretty squinky".

 

Squinky??? Please explain to an unknowing Brit.

Wow!I remember seeing this years ago and noticing the same thing but I forgot about it.
What I didn't get at the time is why anyone their age would have a painting like that on their wall!

 

I used to. Now, Elton, Gracie and the Jacksons are part of a massive hallway wallpaper/mural/collage thing. Great to see the rest of the series again! (The others are on the back of pasted ones) And wonderful to see that Coop cover too! Well spotted.

i'm pretty sure crosby's father won an oscar at some point.

 

I recall that issue (though I no longer have it). There were other rock stars not shown at this site (Joe Cocker, Ginger Baker). Also, I think the picture of Grace Slick had her holding her baby upside down.
