While Brain Salad Surgery wouldn't have been my first choice (or my second or third for that matter) it is ELP on SACD - so therefor good to have available. Enjoy.

Oh, cool. Are they going to use the mix that's on the DVD-A?

I hope they keep the same mastering as the DVD-A, then again, I think the mixes were 24/96 anyway. I haven't listened to it in awhile, IIRC, the Stereo mix on it, is a fold-down of the 5.1 at 24/96k, as well.

I hope they 'bait' it with 'Lucky Man' like the DVD-A.

A 2007 reissue on Shoutfactory and now a 2008 SACD on Sanctuary? I'm getting dizzy.

Just the other day I found a used copy of "Brain..." on DVD-A, as it was one of the ones I always passed on, when it was new, but for $9 bucks used, I figured it would be interesting to own, especially with the bonus, "Lucky Man" on it?

    No stereo mix option.

You CAN listen to the front channels AS stereo and get away with that, but there is no stereo mix option on that disc. That's what makes that disc so odd in a way.

The above Amazon link shows it for 14.99 GBP. That's not bad.

I thought the Natalie Merchant was the only DVD-A without a stereo mix

Hardly...Boz Scaggs Dig comes to mind quickly....I know I have several more too.

This is one set that might make me regrett disassembling my 5.1 music system? What's done is done...

Duh!:o your right...I didn't realize that *the player* did the fold down on this. I found this odd, just like the Stone Temple Pilots' 'Core' DVD-A.

The ELP BSS packaging indicated that there was a 96/24 stereo layer but it was just a misprint. The only stereo you got was a down-mix.

Not according to Amazon.uk (FWIW). They so not list it as a SACD

BSS was not remastered from the o-tapes. I don't know why Shout Factory used safety copies for the latest US remaster.

I'm sure the Sanctuary remaster will sound better!

Any new rock SACD is good news, especially one as popular as BSS.

It will be nice to hear a proper stereo hi-rez version. I drove myself nuts trying to get my player to output a stereo track from the DVD-A until I realized that there was none. :shake:

    Doesn't look like it.

The second disc is a live version recorded in London in Dec. 1970 and is augmented by some tracks from their debut album.

That second disc looks suspiciously like the soundtrack to the original Pictures laserdisc (which was used for the DVD release, minus the tracks from the debut album plus "Rhondo" which were originally included on the laserdisc).
