I play "Walk Into Light" & "Secret Language Of Birds" the most.

:D I'm expecting light traffic for this one.

I play Rupi's and Divinities more, so there, Too.

In fact, I don't think I've played Into The Light in ten years. Maybe I should pull it out. I seem to remember liking it better than Under Wraps.

Watch out, pretty soon people will be complaining about all the dang tull threads.

My faves are Divinities and Secret Language of Birds. Rupi's Dance is OK, but the melodies are weaker and less varied overall. I have an unopened copy of Walk into the Light. Someday I'll give it a spin. :hide:

I only have Secret Language Of Birds and Rupi's Dance I like both but I slightly prefer the former.
I'll have to get the other two. Ian Anderson is one of my favourite musicians :righton:

  9. I like "The Secret Languages of Birds" best, I thought Rupi's Dance was essentially an inferior clone to Birds (but still pretty good). I never heard Divinities, but I did not care at all for "Walk In The Light".

Divinities stands alone at the invitation of EMI Records (Classical Division)1994.

What say we all give another listen to these albums this weekend and compare notes? I'm in the mood for a little dose of Ian.

  13. I don't own R'sD yet. I have downloaded the Amazon.com samples and thought those tracks sounded too much like rejects from the Birds sessions. But I will get it if I can find it used and cheap.

I think about half of the content of his solo albums (the other three I am familiar with) is really, really good.

I haven't listened to Divinities in years, but I used to really like most of it. I liked those sounds, and was glad when he played some of that in concert (Tull's - I haven't caught the solo ones).

"Trains" and a couple of other ones from his first LP are fabulous! Cheesy synths or not. Other tracks are simple horrible...

Me too, actually. First listened to "Walk" while visiting relatives in Germany, and that time in my life "sticks" to the album each time I listen. "Birds" is a very good album too!

"Walk" is better than "Under Wraps".

    I guess.
I've been a lifelong Tull fan but gave up after Divinities.

It must be Walk Into Light because that's the only one I still have - but only because it's vinyl

Cannot abide "Walk...." but then that was the direction Tull were heading in at the time. Like many others I always wanted a mainly acoustic solo album from Ian - alas I can't ever see that happening. Besides, it would have been at it's most potent circa 1971-3
