    . . . it turns out that G.B. patent number 713,418, as on this stamped message on the deadwax of 1958-c.'60 West Coast-pressed Warner Bros. LP's . . .

    . . . originated from the same individual, Allan R. Ellsworth, as U.S. patent number 2,631,859 / Re. 23,946, and was issued in Britain on Aug. 11, 1954. I stumbled across a link here which actually describes in great detail this U.K. patent. And as I suspected, both U.S. and British patents dealt with exactly the same method of pressing LP's (raised edges and label areas, among others).
