    Hey everyone--

This link is reporting that Van Morrison's entire 34-album catalog will be reissued via Polydor, issued in six-album batches with bonus tracks beginning in 2008. Big news if it's true . . .

    for sure

The good news to me is all the out of print stuff that sounds good will come way down in price.

More On Van's re-releases of 34 album back catalogue...

Beginning in 2008, they will be released in batches of 6.

Interesting news if true. I just hope Moondance and Street Choir come out on vinyl with Steve's mastering.

well this'll save me a $hitload of money, cause I need nothing from this listing myself. I thought we'd get the mother load of unreleased tracks here. though that was my fantasy. still i was expecting them to be interesting enough to get me to buy many of them again. I dont need out takes of a song here and there...so yeah, more money for me, less money for Universal...

Yep. It's not interesting stuff. They're probably saving that for Philospher's Stone 2. I'll buy it. I'll also buy a few of these, because I need them. Or maybe I'll buy the original CD masters after these come out and the OOP pricing goes away. Should be interesting. I'll pick up ITLTSN immediately, because on disc of my set is missing. And of course I'll be able to compare it to the other disc.

Precisely. And what's with the strict "2 bonus tracks only" thing? We all know there's dozens and dozens of outtakes to choose from...
I stopped holding my breath for PS2 about five years ago.

yea 2 bonus tracks of songs already out in some fashion legitimately. why not some of the dozens of unreleased tunes from those era's.

honestly such a missed opportunity. Frankly, these two bonus cuts per cd is not going to generate sales the way 4-6 unreleased and often booted songs would have and generated much more income into Universal's coifers. I'm really quite astonished...but ultimately its Van's call isnt it? He controls his masters, so he's the one doling out the bonus cuts I imagine.

oh well, at least i'm not re-buying some 30 some odd cds next year.

Well, I might pick up Tupelo Honey if the mastering is any good. It's the only Van I like. And yes, I've tried Astral Weeks, Moondance and all the other big ones.

Yes, that is the big question for me as well.

I dream of someday hearing a CD issue of Veedon Fleece that surpasses the original Warner Bros. CD sonically, but ... I'll be surprised if that happens.
