Hi friend, I am aware of that list too, but I wish to compile first the 35DP titles as I am not sure if any of those other titles were simoultanious to these ones.

    Anyone?

    Otoniel,

Your Journey discs look like they're from the late 80s. Some 35DP titles never received updates and remained in print until 1990. Guilty by Streisand/Gibb was another example.

I'll put up pictures for some Billy Joel titles and a few more later tonight when I get home.

Hi Anselm, yes you may be right, now you mention it my Escape CD has the DPA-37 5 on matrix instead of the original 35DP 6, that would be the explanation.
My Frontiers CD have the 35DP-45 81A1 heavy engraved on matrix area, that may be earlier than the Escape, my guess.

You have good eye isn't it?

Well, it's hard to miss the UPC in the inner ring. :) ;)

The earliest ones look like the 35DH 3 soundboy has, with "Manufactured by CBS Sony Records, Inc." inscribed around the inner ring. The matrix code had only two digits after the catalog number (35DP-45 11, for instance).

The discs with "CSR Compact Disc" inscribed 3 times are probably next. These had four digits after the catalog number as the matrix code (35DP-45 11A1) but did not have +++++ on the disc.

The third variation is the same as the second except that we now had +++++ following the matrix code (35DP-45 71A1 +++++, for instance). Some of these discs had "CSR" inscribed in the inner ring. Others (probably coming later) did not.

Finally, we had some titles that came with the UPC and the DP matrix numbers like the Escape disc you have. These are likely from the late 1980s.

I will post in the next couple of days. I have quite a few of these. For years, no one wanted them, but now they are hard to find, even in Japan.

Sure! You won't believe me but is the first time I see those barcodes on inner rings! specially on early ones, thanks! Everyday we learn something no doubt.

There are some...interesting...cover images in these first six.

38DG1 is actually a field recording of steam locomotives (hence: SL). Nothing too weird there, after all, that's how Brad Miller started Mobile Fidelity.

35・8P-1 translates as "From A Girl To A Woman" and has Iglesias with an 11-year-old kid on his lap (maybe his daughter), which is only mildly creepy.

35・8H-1...well, let me put it this way, by the early 1980s, Japan was pretty much the only country left on earth where a group could get away with singing doo-wop in blackface... :sigh:

I'm ashamed to say as a Korean American that just a few years ago a group in Korea called Bubble Sisters appeared in blackface on the CD cover and at live concerts. Ministry of Culture in Korea, who actively supervises and even censors popular culture, did not even object to this shameful practice, let alone censuring it. When there were some backlashes from the foreign press, the group and the record company (Universal) had the audacity to defend themselves saying it was done in honor of black culture. I could say that some people just don't know better, but racism remains a serious issue that gets swept aside all too often.

Sorry about getting off-track. I'll be back soon with some CD images.
