Grant, good job on the MCA 45 label. But isn't there a copyright (c) before 1973 in the legalese?

There is, but I couldn't get it on there with my version of Photoshop. I can do it with Mediaface II, but I got lazy.

    Hello to part 2!

What's this Mediaface II you're talking about? Is it a label-making program? I think you've mentioned it before.

yes, it used to be called Neato many years ago, and the labels are still called that. But, their paper labels are slowly disappearing from the shelves, and ther software is free and downloadable. I find version II much easier to use than version 4, which came out about...four years ago, so I keep it loaded onto the PC. Also, I can make bitmap or jpg versions of the labels created in Mediaface II and tewak them in Photoshop. I can't do that with any other label software. I guess they want to force you to use their stuff only.

    Vee Jay

Check out the circa 1958 Vee Jay label scan I recently dropped.

I just rendered it. Grant, maybe you could give it a shot? You could probably do it a little better.

You did just fine! But, when I added it to my personal collection, I sharpened it up a bit.:)

Won't it automatically go into the archive anyway after a month or so?>

What I didn't like about it was that the brown background is perfectly flat and homogeneous (I used the color replacer and flood fill tools), but the silver "Vee-Jay" logo still retains the texture of the paper label. So it looks sort of incongruous. I've seen you put a texture effect on some of your labels; maybe that would make it look more like a real label?

But, i'm not going to try. I don't have the actual record, so I can't judge. But, sometimes, I can convey the feeling of the type of paper used, as on the Harmony label in the gallery.

I just added an ABC promo LP and that Duke LP label. Not great work, but...

Cool. Did you derive yours from mine or were we both working on it at the same time?

PRT label from the Raw section is up.

A bit too heavy on the color replacer tool again. Notice how it thins out the legal text on the bottom.

I thickened the legalese and re-submitted it. Better? Or should I start over?
