Is there any word about the rest of the "Classic Years" albums coming out on SACD anytime soon?

It is my understanding that all hi-rez titles from Universal are on "permanent hold". Considering the Universal hi-rez website, I would consider all future/expected releases to be dead. Not trying to be negative, just realistic.

Apparently they are completed (mixed to 5.1 anyway)... but we will never see them.

Anyone have contact info on Greg Penney?

Too bad. I have Goodbye Yellow Brick Road on SACD and love it.

I spoke to the VP of new media( the guy in charge of 5.1) and he told me Universal is out of that business for good

Can you get me his contact info? I may have an idea about how to license the 5.1 mixes only under a company that still puts out 5.1.

    Thanks!

You'd make me and a bunch of people pretty ecstatic if you could pull this off.

A few titles are listed as coming soon with a date of 4/12/05. Geez, it's embarrasing for a major record label to have a web site so obviously left for dead.

I know WB and Sony... I don't know Universal at all, though I may be working with Interscope in the coming months.

I always include "little side deals" in big deals that company's want in general, so I'd like to suss out what the real story is.

Anyone know Greg Penney's contact? I KNOW it's around... I'm a bad searcher.

What about this "new media" contact at Uni?

Try SHTV poster CrazyWater. He was in touch with Greg Penny when he was doing the other 5.1s. I'll PM you his e-mail I found on his blogsite.

I hate when they start a reissue series and then stop dead before finishing it, especially when they leave the holes in the middle (Don't Shoot Me), as opposed to the end.

It is a shame "Don't Shoot Me" never saw the light of day.

I can't believe Elton hasn't released his 25 different greatest hits cds in sacd.
    That's sarcasm.

:agree: Kind of like the Dylan SACD's too, but at least they did issue most of the REALLY good albums, with the glaring exceptions of "Times They Are A 'Changin", "Shot Of Love", & "Empire Burlesque".

I noticed that too, pretty pathetic.

The worst part is the other titles have been completed for SACD, right? I really wish somebody from one of the big companies would step forward and tell us what we already know. SACD has been left for dead.

    Hey Guys -

Would you get the new Eltons if they were DVD-A 5.1 only? It's pretty much the only way we can figure on how to possibly offer to license the mixes since there are simply not enough potential SACD buyers to pay the high price to license if we can.

The major labels are pathetic... only interested in what appeals to the masses... not caring about the true fans want.

Gotta love the corporate world... reminds me of the company I work for that lays off people because although they're making money, they're not making *enough money* and thus the stock price doesn't go up *fast enough*.

What a sad world we live in.

Why not drop 192/24 stereo in there also?

I'd buy them if they had both 96/24 5.1 and 192/24 stereo. :righton:
