New Paul McCartney single is called "Ever Present Past"...

and it will be available to radio stations via digital download at 12:01am ET this Friday, April 20. A CD single will be serviced to radio later that day.

Thanks for the info, Andre! I really like that title, "Ever Present Past"--quite evocative. I can't wait to hear it.

Hmmm... what about the rumors that "Dance Tonight" is the first single and that the video has been shot?

Hoping that we do get to hear a new one this week though!

Can't wait. So Dance Tonight won't be the first single as it seems.
Anyway, it's going to be the first vid.

"Dance Tonight" may be considered a bit too.. um.. controversial considering Heather's recent appearances on Dancing With the Stars.

Let us know what you think when you hear it! So far we only have one impression of the song, from our friend zipzorp:

Quote:
2. "My Everpresent Past" (title?) - Musically quirky (McCartney II fans will love this one), hooky and clever with great lyrics, addictive robotic rhythm, nifty distorted guitar riffs and terrific double-tracked vocals. Fully realized top-drawer Macca Pop in every respect. Opening line: "I've got too much on my plate - I've got no time to be a decent lover". A+
Sounds like a good one!

This is going to be tough holding out another 49 days to hear the album completely for the first time if a song is getting released this soon. I was able to hold out on not hearing anything from Chaos until the day of its release. This might be a too hard to pass up though. McCartney II is an incredible journey into music made to satisfy one person, Paul, so if "Ever Present Past" is a nod to that album musically, I'll be in Rude Studio Heaven!

So will Starbucks be handling single releases as well? Or will it be download only? When's the last time a McCartney single has come out so far ahead of the album?

I don't think it's all THAT early -- "Fine Line" was available as a CD single several weeks before Chaos & Creation was released. April 20th is only six weeks before Memory Almost Full is scheduled for release (June 5th) -- and that's for a RADIO single, which is often released earlier than a commercial single.

Just chiming in on the excitement

Chaos was a great album which I've enjoyed many times over. Hopefully he's having a great time working on his music and will continue "plugging away" just as long as he feels like it. I'm happy Paul's going to it and will be happy to lend him my ears. Go Paul

The same for me. And I think MAF will be a very different kind of album.

Here we have the album listed for June 1st (Sgt Pepper's bday) in Netherlands. It also confirms Ever Present Past as the single.

I thought of you as soon as i read the description of the song, i dunno for me i've made a pact with all my Paul mates to hold out until the album is released so we can hear the whole thing .. well, whole.

I dunno how i'm going to hold out, it will be an excercise in total deprivation, it'll be a good chance to practice a little self control :-)

Greg.

I hope there will be a cd single available in stores with non-album b-sides.

I'll try not to listen the album on the internet, as I did with Chaos!
That time I only listened to Fine Line, the single - which was fair, as it happened in the past. You know...the internet temptations are very consumating...it's tough!
