COLUMBIA RECORDS TO RELEASE 'BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN WITH THE SESSIONS BAND LIVE IN DUBLIN' JUNE 5 ON DVD AND IN 2-CD SET
Concert Features 23 Songs From November, 2006

Columbia Records will release 'Bruce Springsteen With The Sessions Band Live in Dublin' June 5, a concert DVD, and separate two-CD set release. The two-CD set and DVD both feature 23 songs drawn from the band's performances in Dublin, Ireland at The Point on November 17, 18 and 19, 2006. Songs include fan favorites from 'The Seeger Sessions,' radical interpretations from the Springsteen songbook and rare songs appearing for the first time on any Springsteen release.

Springsteen's longtime manager Jon Landau said, "'Live in Dublin' charts the development of a band from an informal gathering in Bruce's living room to an onstage powerhouse. It also documents the growth in Bruce's vision of American music; it includes folk music, blues, Dixieland, country, swing, gospel, rock, down to and including his own writing. It's all performed with Bruce's classic energy and focus. I think it's some of the finest music he's ever made."

The DVD and CD captures the band during the finale of its multi-leg 2006 tour. The Word Magazine (UK) said of a concert on this tour, "I have never, make that NEVER, seen a show better than the one mounted by Bruce Springsteen and his band at Wembley Arena on Saturday, November 11, 2006." The Sunday Business Post Agenda (UK), in a 5 star review, said, "During the concert's numerous high points, the crowd was ecstatic and Springsteen was the preacher, spreading a welcome message: We're open all night."

Bruce Springsteen with The Sessions Band's tour last year prompted other incredible reviews. "Sometime, somewhere, a more dramatic and exhilarating confluence of music with moment may have existed... But in nearly 40 years of concert-going, I haven't witnessed one," said LA Times. The Washington Post declared, "It was the best live show I've seen in at least five years. (And I've seen a few.)" Meanwhile, The Independent (UK), said, "It's been an astonishingly rich evening." The Observer (UK) proclaimed, "Springsteen and the Seeger Session band were an inspiring triumph."

'Bruce Springsteen With The Sessions Band Live in Dublin' was produced by George Travis and produced and edited by Emmy Award winner Thom Zimny, who recently took home a Grammy Award for directing "Wings For Wheels: The Making Of Born To Run," a DVD in the acclaimed 'Born To Run' box set. Legendary mixer Bob Clearmountain mixed the DVD in both stereo and 5.1 surround sound. Bob Ludwig mastered the DVD and CD at Gateway Studios. Documented with nine cameras, the concert was filmed in High Definition (HD).

This is fantastic news. Glad Bruce is loosening up a bit when it comes to getting releases out - heck, I think this will be three years in a row and 6 official new releases in the 21st century. Bruce, keep it up!

Great tracklist - was thrilled to see the reworked "Further on up the Road", a true highlight of the tour. In hindsight, the particular show on saw on the tour was the best Bruce I've seen, and I've been to at least one show on every Bruce tour since 1980. Glad to see this particular band get the right attention through this sort of CD/DVD documentation.

Too bad "Bring 'Em Home" isn't included, as it was another shining moment from the tour, but maybe it wasn't played in Ireland (context may be a little lost outside of the US) and luckily it is already on the deluxe version of the Seeger Sessions.

I also saw this tour at the Greek. What an awesome show...
But I still wish he would release a cd set of the Devils & Dust tour, some of the best shows I've seen him do.

A large complilation from the Devils & Dust tour would be great, considering the huge range of material he did. I'll tell you, that was a wonderful tour- I saw its opening night with absolutely no expectations as to what would be performed, and they were wildly exceeded. The Seeger Sessions tour gets the edge from me only because of the wild abandon of the band and the melting pot approach taken to styles, material, and arrangements. Still, the D&D tour was really special.

Great news! These songs will come to life even more in a "live with an audience" context. It's truly great that Bruce is releasing something of quality for his fans about once a year now. Another new release to look forward to (along with Patti Smith, Chris Cornell and Suzanne Vega all forthcoming!)

I can't wait for this. Saw him last year at the Jazz Fest, and the performace was incredible. I sure the band could only have become tighter over time.

Aren't you the same one that just criticized Nebraska and Springsteen's post-82 output???

  14. Great news. This is an essential purchase for me. I love the original album and hearing this material live should be great.

    Great News!
Hoping the audio on the DVD is Hi-Rez (24/48) like the Live DVD in the BTR box last year.
Saw one of the Asbury Park shows last year at the beginning of the tour - heard the band got better as the tour went on so I'm excited to hear this one.

FYI, NJN Public Television in New Jersey is offering up a 5-song exclusive bonus DVD as part of a pledge-drive package. The 5 songs - "Bobby Jean," "The Ghost of Tom Joad," "Johnny 99," "For You," and "My City of Ruins" - are not included on either the DVD or CD. Don't know yet if other markets will be offering the same exclusive CD or not.

You can make a pledge and order here: https://secure.ga3.org/03/springsteendublin
