Since adding a Laserdisc player, Hi-Fi Betamax and VHS to my vintage rig I am quickly becoming a fan of playing recorded live music through my stereo system while watching the video on my television.

Right now I only have a few titles (Queen, Meat Loaf, Def Leppard), but would like to add more... However, I don't want the stuff that's readily available on DVD... that just wouldn't be me. I want the obscure stuff that was only released on VHS or Laserdisc.

So, do any of you know of some good releases that have yet to find their way to DVD? I like all types of music but primarily 70's and 80's rock. Stuff ranging from Steely Dan to KISS... Donna Summer to Supertramp... Scorpions to Fleetwood Mac and all bands in between (I think you get the idea).

    Thanks for any input.

Start dragging e-Bay. There are tons of LD's, some Japanese, that aren't and won't be on DVD. I have April Wine on LD. What chance does it have to come to DVD, it ain't pop-lar no more. My fav Japanese one is Dr. John's New Orleans Swamp. I have about 50 music LD's. Only a few have gone to DVD.

Billy Joel - Live From Long Island 1982. Great show, better than the ones that DID come out on DVD!

Spoken word, but... Henry Rollins - You Saw Me Up There. Again, great show, only on VHS.

Fine Young Cannibals - Live At The Paramount.

I wouldn't exclude titles that were re-released on DVD.

Most of them have a Dolby 2.0 or a Dolby faux 5.1 mix.

The original laserdiscs had either a PCM digital soundtrack
or an analog soundtrack - both of which I think are better
    than Dolby.

The analog soundtrack on a VHS tape blows away a Dolby
    soundtrack.

The only DVD title I can think of that was smart enough
to include a LPCM track on it when it was re-released on
DVD was Fleetwood Mac's The Dance (which is a two sided
    DVD)

The music titles on laserdisc are one big reason I'm still
proudly holding onto my playback hardware and software.
