Atlantic Soul Classics CD (Warner Special Products)

    picked up this old CD for pennies today. catalog number is 9-27601-2:

    is this CD well-regarded in terms of sound quality? sounds like good, no nonsense transfers to me, but i haven't sampled more recent compilations with the same material and have no basis for comparison.

    sounds like this disc uses stereo versions of the songs, so i guess they're not the "hit" versions in some cases (just noticed this when "I've Been Loving You Too Long" started playing).

    It's just OK. Not taken from the actual Atlantic masters but from the "History Of Atlantic Rhythm & Blues" tapes. You can tell because Green Onions fades up, right? (Been a long time)..
