Of course, it's not.
Very sad news indeed. But just think, he's joined that "great band in the sky".

i don't get it
I was only listening to Crowded House recently after not hearing them for a long time.
Split Enz is never off the stereo for long here...
I don't get it either.

I was recently watching the bonus DVD that now comes w/ the Crowded House hits CD. Paul Hester is quite the joker in the "Chocolate Cake" video.

I met Hester back stage at the Crowded House show in Calgary, c.1988, Jubilee Auditorium. He was very nice, funny.

My thoughts and prayers are with his two daughters.

this taken from abc news website!

Music industry personality Molly Meldrum says Hester was a great drummer and a nice guy who always supported local talent.

"The other thing that Paul would do and has done over the last few years is encourage young musicians certainly from Melbourne to follow their dreams and further their careers," he said.

"He embodied the whole side of rock and roll, he embodied the whole side of being a Melbourne boy, he loved Melbourne."

Paul was another victim of the "black dog", as Winston Churchill called his own depression. Depression is a much misunderstood and undiagnosed malady in our society.

The Finn Brothers shows are still going ahead. From the Finn Brothers website:
MESSAGE FROM NEIL Mon, 28 Mar 2005
"It was with deepest sadness and shock that I learned yesterday of the passing away of one of my closest friends, Paul Hester.

Nick Seymour will be joining Tim and me here in London today to share our grief. The Finn Brothers shows this week at the Royal Albert Hall will go ahead as we don't know what else to do at this time other than to be with those closest to us and Paul and to play music to remember him by.

Our hearts go out to Mardi, Sunday, Olive and all of Paul's family."

What a sad ending for such a funny, witty guy. I feel very sorry for his family, particularly his young daughters.

When I heard about this yesterday afternoon I felt absolutely crushed. Not only is he someone that I admire, he is another victim despair and depression. Those of us who've struggled through it can understand, to some degree, what he must have been going through.

My thoughts are with his family and children. I hope he has found peace now.

Not much to say except I'm very sad. I feel really bad for his daughters, friends, and other family members.

Rest in peace.

Here's another article from Billboard,

http://www.billboard.com/bb/daily/ar..._id=1000856053

I didn't know they were planning a reunion tour, just makes it that much sadder.
